Let's take a walk through the "Forest of Fairy Tales"!

Now, let's take a walk through the "Forest of Fairy Tales"!

It is said to be the ruins of Nakayama's castle, which was also the stage of the work "Gongitsune".

A wide variety of trees grow here.

While walking, you can meet various insects. I saw cicadas flying by the roadside, big black swallowtails and dragonflies, and frogs and grasshoppers along the way!

And what is interesting is the quiz provided on the trees on the roadside. What kind of tree is this? It is a good way to learn about nature.

There is a waterway near the exit where children can play.

There is also a covered rest area.

Cafe & Souvenir Shop

The last place we would like to introduce is “Cafe & Shop Gon no Okurimono” located across from the Memorial Hall.

There is a cafe and a goods shop here, so even those who do not use the memorial hall can use it. (You can also enter directly from the memorial hall)

Menu items using seasonal fruits are limited in quantity

The interior of the shop is small, and you can feel the warmth of Nankichi's world here.

The menu is mainly drinks, but recommended are parfaits and shaved ice (summer only) using seasonal fruits. The photo shows the "Mikan Frappe" (650 yen) made with Natsumi (mandarin oranges) from Kamiya Farm in Mihama-cho. With mandarin orange pulp & mandarin orange syrup and vanilla ice cream on top, it is a perfect summer dish.

This is the "Amazake Cream Toast with Honey from Chita Peninsula" drink set (480 yen for a single item, 200 yen off the drink price when paired with a drink).

The moderately sweet honey is just the right amount of sweetness for the fluffy whipped cream.

Coffee "Gon Blend 400 yen" can be purchased at the shop next door! The fox design cup is also cute, but this is an original Tokoname-yaki cup. It seems that they are also sold at the shop, so please check it out (*If there is no stock, wait for the next arrival)

Cute shop with original goods

The shop next to the cafe has many exclusive goods such as goods related to Nankichi, Tokoname-yaki pottery, and lamps that appear in fairy tales.

Wooden stamps with animal motifs from Nankichi's fairy tales

Adorable mamezara (small plates) is made by Tokoname-yaki pottery artist.

Tokoname-yaki porcelain artist's work designed with Japanese paper

There are many things that you will want to pick up, such as local Tokoname pottery, woodwork, and original works by artists using Chita cotton.

~I die, but my work never dies~

These were the words Nankichi had in mind when he was writing a biography of Yako Tsuzuki in his later years, but they are also said to have been Nankichi's own thoughts as he became aware of his own death.

Nankichi would have wanted to create many more works, but on the other hand, with the support of those around him,
true to his words, Nankichi's works transcend the boundaries of generations and the world, and are still loved today.

Now that you have grown up, why not experience the world of Nankichi's fairy tales with your family and friends?

Worked for about 9 years at a publishing company that develops wedding information magazines, beauty products, and food and beverage products. After getting married and retiring, my love for travel increased and I became a freelance writer. Due to a family transfer, I went to Fukuoka and Hiroshima, and currently live in Nagoya. Enjoying and discovering the charms of not only Aichi Prefecture but also the three Tokai prefectures. My specialties are shrines and hot springs, and I also love delicious food. We will deliver "new discoveries" to the "normal" of local people.
