The avenue of cold cherry trees along the north-south road separating Izumi 2-chome and 3-chome in Higashi-ku, Nagoya City, is one of the first places in the city where visitors can view cherry blossoms every year.

In the spring of 1961, 16 saplings were planted in order to meet the wishes of the local community, "We want you to plant cherry blossoms that bloom the earliest in Nagoya.'' Of the trees planted at that time, only 6 remain, but today, including those newly planted, about 140 cherry blossom trees line the road and you can enjoy the early spring.
