"Toyamazakura" over 400 years old
Now that our stomachs are full, let's go see the "Toyamazakura (Toyama Cherry Blossoms)" along the banks of the Akechi River. The giant cherry tree, said to be 400 years old, had branches reaching down to the surface of the river and was blooming magnificent cherry blossoms.
Cherry blossoms in full bloom are very beautiful and make us feel very happy.
Taisho Period Museum & Cafe Tenkyu
The Taisho Period Museum is the place to be while enjoying the cherry blossoms. The Taisho Period Museum has exhibits on Emperor Taisho, the symbol of the Taisho Era, as well as scenes of daily life that recreate a standard household of the time using a variety of daily utensils.
There is also a retro-style coffee shop "Cafe Tenkyu" next door. To enter the Taisho Period Museum, go through the Tenkyu entrance.
The Period Museum has two floors, and on the first floor, newspapers and retro posters are displayed on the theme of life in those days. On the second floor, there was an exhibition about Emperor Taisho.
There is also a commentary on the news that shows events in the Taisho era, so you can learn about the culture and customs of that time.
After visiting the Taisho Period Museum, we had a coffee break at Cafe Tenkyu. Staff members in salon aprons welcomed us.
Café Tenkyu was a coffee shop in Kyoto from the late Taisho period to the early Showa period that was frequented by many cultural figures. After it was closed, it was restored in Taisho-mura. It is still in use as a coffee shop, just as it was in those days.
Besides coffee, you can also have pancakes! Please stop by!

Sweets you want to eat when you go to Taisho-mura
Taisho Village also has sweets that you should try!
First, gohei mochi, a specialty of the shop "Aikou Foods" next to Romantei. Almost all the processes involved in manufacturing are made by hand by skilled craftsmen with all their hearts.
The secret sauce, which has not changed in taste since its founding, does not use any miso, and uses plenty of peanuts and sesame in a soy sauce base. By roasting it until it is browned, the fragrant flavor spreads throughout your mouth.
The popular “Mitsuhide Pudding” has sold over 50,000 units in two years since the opening of Romantei. By adding kuzu to soy milk, it becomes a soy milk pudding with a chewy taste. A new type of Japanese-style pudding that you can enjoy with the included soybean flour and brown sugar syrup.
It is also very popular as a souvenir!
"Mitsuhide Soft Pudding". A new type of soft-serve ice cream that combines Mitsuhide soy sauce on top of the popular smooth pudding. The sweet and bittersweet taste is exquisite.
Please try it with your stroll through Taisho Village!
Let's get souvenirs and go home!
After enjoying Taisho-mura, let's go to "Taisho-mura Romantei" to get some souvenirs.
They have a wide range of original goods that can only be purchased here, as well as local confectionery and specialty products. When you go home, be sure to pick up a souvenir that will remain in your memory.

Business hours: 9:30-16:30
This time, we enjoyed Taisho-mura with plenty of time to be a stylish person. Taisho-mura is not just a collection of old things. It is a place where the lives of people who lived through the turbulent 15 years of the Taisho Era come to life. Preserving the historical and emotional townscape is also a result of the wishes of the townspeople. I strongly hoped that this scenery would remain forever.
Please visit to take a stroll and feel like you have stepped back in time to the Taisho Era! It will surely be a memorable time.
