Sweets and coffee shop "bake melew" in Gokiso, Nagoya

“Bake melew” opened on June 12, 2021, just a minute away from Gokiso Station on the Municipal Subway Tsurumai Line. A sweets and coffee shop with a light purple door.

Cute shop with purple and gold concept colors.

The purple door, the concept color of the shop, has gold handles, also the concept color.

This is a replacement for the signboard. It seems that there is no signboard on purpose to make the door stand out. You can see the coffee being brewed through the large window next door.

What catches the eye are the drippers for brewing coffee. They are lined up in a variety of colors. The drippers are also found on the lights. They say it fits the light bulbs just right! It is full of playfulness.

When you open the door, the counter seats are lined up.

The soft purple interior of the shop is decorated with dried flowers everywhere, creating a relaxing atmosphere.

Behind the counter, in the garden beyond the tables, is a bench.

They do not use it in the summer because it is too hot, but when it is cooler, you can have coffee on the bench seating. Everything visible around the benches is painted purple, which shows the attention to detail in the décor.

The shop's exterior and interior are all from the owner, Ms. Kato's image.

The name of the shop is derived from "bake" of baked goods and "melwe," an old English word from which the word "mellow," meaning "soft," is derived. The name fits the soft and cute atmosphere of the shop.

Specialty coffees that they are particular about

The lightly roasted coffee beans have a good balance of fruity flavor, sourness and sweetness, and are moderately bitter.

They only use specialty, shallow roasted coffees because they want people to know that coffee is not a bitter drink.

For those who don't like coffee, there is also a "milk brew" made by soaking coffee beans in milk and a drink made with spices. "Milk Brew" is rare in Nagoya, so why not try it even if you like coffee?

The coffee beans used in the shop are from "Trunk Coffee" near the municipal subway "Takaoka" station. You can choose your favorite beans from 2 types.

The coffee beans of the day were Brazil and Kenya. Brazil is a coffee with a soft acidity, which we are usually accustomed to drinking. Kenya is a fruity coffee with strong acidity.

We decided to have Kenya, which we had never had before on ice.

Coffee can be brewed by hand drip after ordering.

The dripper used is the ORIGAMI dripper supervised by "Trunk Coffee". There are 11 color variations, and it is also used for sweets that can be eaten at eat-in. Fashionable spirit is also found in such point.

This is "lightly roasted specialty iced coffee (550 yen)"
It has a beautiful clear brown color and is easy to drink with no bitterness or acidity!

When we ordered it, we heard that it had a sour taste like grapefruit. Even though we didn't expect it, it really did have a sour taste like grapefruit. First of all, milk and sugar are not served so that you can enjoy the taste of coffee itself. But of course you can have milk and sugar too.

Baked sweets and cakes that you want to eat with coffee

Baked sweets are neatly arranged in the trunk case.

There is also a gift box containing dried flowers that can be used as a small gift.

A gift box that can be used as a present or souvenir will surely make people happy if they receive it as a present!

Bake melew's baked sweets are characterized by not using alcohol. We had 3 kinds of recommended baked sweets.

The “Komekoji Muffin (280 yen)” made with rice Amazake is moist and chewy. When you take a bite, the gentle sweetness spreads in your mouth. Amazake made with rice koji does not contain alcohol, so even children can eat it.

The “Florentin” (300 yen), which has a buttery scent, is an irresistible combination of crispy cookies and fragrant and sweet caramel almonds.

"Galette Bretonne (280 yen)" is a thick baked cookie. The crunchy texture and slightly salty taste go well with coffee.

Besides these baked sweets, there were also cakes and canelés.

Cakes are not displayed in the showcase, so if you want to buy a cake, please order it from Ms. Kato.

This “Tsumi na (sinful) Cheesecake” (350 yen per piece) is a popular item.

The name "Sin" comes from the fact that cream cheese, fresh cream, and granulated sugar are used in plenty. Although it has a rich taste, it has a refreshing lemon aftertaste. We definitely can't stop eating! Guilty cheesecake.

Bake melew is a shop with a relaxing atmosphere where customers can enjoy sweets and coffee, adding color to their mundane daily lives and feeling a little bit of happiness.

The shop is also open at night, so it would be nice to stop by on the way home from work or going out.

You can just take out, or you can have a cup of coffee at the shop. It is a shop that adds color to your daily life with a calm atmosphere.
