The green Higashiyama Park area is also known as a battleground for bakeries, with new shops being born one after another.

This time, I would like to introduce "BOULANGERIE SUN", which is located near Exit 1 of "Higashiyama Koen Station" on the subway Higashiyama Line. It is a bakery that has already blended into the city, opening in December 2022 as the second shop following "Bakery SUNtoF" in Minato Ward, which bakes bread with the power of solar power.

Because it is a small store, only 3 groups can enter the store. Even on weekdays, customers come to the store all the time, and sometimes there is a line.

Revitalize the City with the Power of Electricity Even in the City Center

BOULANGERIE SUN is located on the 1st floor of the condominium, which gives a stylish impression, as opposed to the suburban type bakery SUNtoF. Mr. Kenta Ito, the representative of Fuji Service Co., Ltd., which operates the bakery, originally had a vision of developing multiple stores in the bakery business, and said that he wanted to "revitalize the city with the power of electricity."

"BOULANGERIE SUN" is an urban store that cannot install solar panels on the roof. Mr. Ito, who was particular about using solar power at the second store, decided to purchase electricity derived from renewable energy that does not emit CO2. By using that electricity, we have realized the opening of a CO2-free, environmentally friendly bakery.

The Concept is "Classic, but Special"

"BOULANGERIE SUN" does not provide a luxury bread that you can eat only occasionally, nor a bread that uses rare ingredients, but the classic bread. Based on the concept of "classic but special", BOULANGERIE SUN wants to stick to really good bread because it is a thing we eat it every day. It is a bakery that fulfills such a wish.

According to Mr. Motoki Murase, who is in charge of the bakery business department, BOULANGERIE SUN makes bread that is more sophisticated and satisfying.

For example, the cream buns offered at "Bakery SUNtoF" are mixed with water to knead the dough, but "BOULANGERIE SUN" seems to be made with only milk without using water. Finishing up so that you can feel the usual bread richer.

Mr. Murase:"It's not a high-end product, but it would be nice to have a shop which a customer could think 'I'm going to work hard today to eat their bread!'"
