"Bunkitsu", a bookstore with admission fee, opened on the second floor of the Chunichi Building in Sakae, Nagoya. The theme of Bunkitsu is "a bookstore for meeting books". Approximately 30,000 books are available for sale, and no two books are the same in the store. We cherish each and every encounter with books.
Bunkitsu Sakae, the third store after Roppongi and Fukuoka Tenjin, is a large store, the largest to date, boasting an area of approximately 1230m2.
The store is divided into a bookstore area where you can make purchases for free and a paid area, and the unique system of requiring customers to pay an entrance fee to use the store, despite it being a bookstore, has attracted attention.
So, this time we will introduce the charms of the currently popular bookstore, Bunkitsu Sakae.

What is Bunkitsu?
Bunkitsu is a bookstore where you can enjoy culture, with an admission fee. From the humanities and natural sciences to design and art, 30,000 books are selected one by one by a book director.
It has a reading room to face books alone, a study room that can be used by several people, and a coffee shop to satisfy small appetites. The library has an extensive lineup of books that are not usually encountered, providing an opportunity for accidental encounters with books that can serve as a gateway to new interests.
Bunkitsu is located on the second floor of the Chunichi Building.
It is directly connected to Sakae Station on the subway, so it is very accessible!
"Bookstore" area with no admission fee
In the "bookstore" area, which has no admission fee, the book director purchases new books every day. The area is filled with unique books that the staff finds really interesting, as well as books that you won't find in other bookstores.
In addition to discovering new books, the store also sells miscellaneous goods and holds special exhibitions to stimulate your curiosity.
The design of the space is also full of playfulness. It is decorated with unique fixtures such as a basketball box and a construction ladder, which somehow makes you feel excited.
A unique feature of Bunko's book selection is that there is no "best-selling" ranking. All books are "one copy only" inventory. If you think you can buy it tomorrow, but it has sold out, you will not have that book until you order more and receive it.
Bunkitsu is also a place where you can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a book.
Bunkitsu's charm is that it hosts a wide variety of special exhibitions. The first special exhibition is "Radio Studies: Learn from Radio DJs: Talking School." It is held in collaboration with TOKAI RADIO, a major radio station in the Chubu region.
Focusing on the power of talk, one of the most appealing aspects of TOKAI RADIO, they will introduce the art of talk by interviewing radio DJs and directors. The program will also delve into "communicating," "speaking," and "expressing" with a selection of books by Bunka book directors.
In one corner of the planning and POP UP space, there will be a reproduction radio booth with some of the equipment actually used in radio broadcasting and essentials for DJs and staff. Visitors can enjoy a realistic on-site experience.
Consisting of four zones

The paid area consists of four zones, with the keywords "books, a place to hang out, coffee, and power outlets" and allows you to move between each area depending on your mood and the timing.
At Bunkitsu, you can enjoy free coffee, tea, and other drinks, a great way to accompany your book.
Dokkyo Hashibiroko
"Dokkyo-Hashibirokou" is a study-like room where you can relax and read a book by yourself. You can immerse yourself in the world of books with a cup of coffee in hand all day long.
It makes you feel as if you are visiting a library overseas.
Cafe Central Sunny
"Café Central Sunny" is a place where you can enjoy conversation and meals in a cafe space with a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere. Another point is that you can enjoy cafe menus that can only be tasted at "Bunkitsu Sakae" at the cafe counter.
The lineup includes a variety of appealing delicacies, including classic curry, Neapolitan pasta, and sandwiches.
If you want to enjoy a good book while chatting with friends, we recommend Cafe Central Sunny.
Drinks are free, so you can chat while reading a magazine or a book that interests you.
