[Tajimi] Taste the Exquisite Spice Curry at "cafe NEU!"

This time we will introduce "CAFE NEU! (Cafe Neu)" in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. You can enjoy natural yeast bread and authentic spiced curry. The owner, who is an incomparable music lover, discovered Indian culture while pursuing music, and was so fascinated by curry that he left his job as a salaried worker to open this restaurant.

I heard rumors that the spice curry was so good that even people from outside the prefecture wanted to visit, so of course I had to visit there.

An old private house cafe along the Toki River

It is 750 meters from Tajimi Station, about a 10-minute walk. CAFE NEU! is located across the Showa Bridge over the Toki River. It is just the right distance for a stroll. There is a parking lot for six cars.

It is written as "NEU" and read as "Noi". It is a natural yeast bread and spice curry shop.

Natural yeast breads are made with homemade yeast and several kinds of wheat, and are characterized by their sticky texture. They also have a lineup of hard breads that are delicious as sandwiches. Bread is sold only on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Unfortunately, the bread was sold out on Wednesday. It is said that sometimes most of the bread is gone in the morning, so be quick!

The atmosphere of the retro Showa era remains

The exterior is tiled, which tells us that this restaurant is located in Tajimi, the city of tile. Stepping into the store, you will find a retro space that makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time. The 110-year-old retro building was once divided into a beauty salon and a barbershop, and the two spaces were renovated into one. The owner himself renovated the store little by little, and you can feel his attention to detail in every aspect of the furniture and accessories.

The area immediately after entering and around the kitchen are counter seats where one can easily spend time alone. All other areas are sofa seats where you can relax in comfort.

The interior of the store, inspired by a German café, is lined with vintage tableware, sundries, and furniture that the owner and his wife love. The large windows with rounded corners are a distinctive feature.

To my surprise, this seat was furnished with table games, which are now rarely seen in coffee shops.

The wallpaper and the sundries placed in the store are all unique, and just looking at the store is exciting.
