Go through the underpass to the "Saijiki no Mori" zone
Gero Onsen Gassho Village consists of two zones, "Gassho no Sato" and "Saijiki no Mori". To get to the "Saijiki no Mori" zone, go through this underpass. It feels like an adventure!
"Saijiki no Mori" is a mountain village where seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves are in full bloom. At the foot of the mountain, there is an old Masuda-style private house called "Sabo Bankoan", a water wheel, and a frog shrine. Feel the four seasons of Japan while taking a leisurely stroll.

Sweets using local ingredients
When you want to take a break, go to Sabo Bankoan. You can enjoy sweets made with local ingredients in an old private house built in a style called “Masuda-zukuri”.
Our top recommendation is the Banko Anmitsu (¥700), which features local sashimi konnyaku and tomatoes. It is an unexpected combination, but the best match is the moderately sweet red bean paste! It was anmitsu with a variety of textures.
