"SEDRA" is located in Minato Ward, Nagoya City. This is a restaurant where you can eat authentic Egyptian and Arabian cuisine, which is rare in Nagoya.
Egyptian cuisine often uses meat and beans, and although spices are used, it is not spicy at all and is easy to eat for Japanese people. Lamb chops marinated in spices and crispy Egyptian pizza with pie layers are recommended.

Facing Jinbe-dori Street, there is a parking lot next to the store. Its orange and black exterior is eye-catching, making it easy to spot.
A spacious store. The glass windows on one side make it bright and the atmosphere is welcoming for families also.
Behind the table seats is a gorgeous sofa seat. It has a foreign atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in Egypt.
Some of the items in the store were made in Egypt and imported. The wooden frames, curtains, lamps, and other details are filled with attention to detail so that visitors can enjoy the "Egyptian-ness" of the shop.
SEDRA used to have stores near Nagoya station and other places in Minato Ward. They moved to our current location in 2021. Minato Ward is an area with many foreigners in Nagoya City, so they chose this location.
There are many dishes using meat and beans
Egyptian/Arabic cuisine
Well, what kind of food is Egyptian food that Japanese people are usually not familiar with?
In Egypt, there are many dishes using meat and beans, and there are also kebabs. The majority of the population is Muslim, so they do not eat pork, and prefer to eat beef, chicken, and mutton.
SEDRA is a halal certified shop. "Halal" is certified when it is processed according to Islamic teachings and it is recognized that there are no problems with food satellites and quality control. Therefore, many foreign customers who are Muslim also come to the store. During the interview, foreigners came one after another.
Egyptian cuisine is characterized by the extensive use of aromatic vegetables such as onions, garlic, and chives, as well as spices such as cumin and coriander. Despite the use of spices, Egyptian cuisine is not spicy at all. It is a dish that is mild yet has the aroma of spices.
Next to Egypt is the Arabian Peninsula. Therefore, it seems that you can also eat Arabic food in Egypt. For example, Egyptians mainly eat Japanese rice, but Arabians eat basmati rice, which is long and thin rice.
SEDRA offers mixed rice using this basmati rice, so I will introduce it later.
Egyptian chef carefully selected!
Recommended menu
SEDRA's cuisine is loved by local foreign customers and families. All the items are unfamiliar to Japanese people, so I asked the Egyptian manager to explain them to me. We will introduce our commitment to authentic cuisine and our recommended menus!
"Kabsa Lamb Chop" where you can enjoy soft lamb marinated in spices
"Kabsa" is an Arabian mixed rice seasoned with original spices and carrots. They also have chicken, but this time I had lamb chops.
Crispy basmati rice cooked with meat broth and spices. The crunchy texture of the cashew nuts and the fried onions on top are a nice accent, and the rice goes on.
And the lamb on top of rice is marinated in spices for a day and then grilled.
It is completely soaked in spices, so it has no odor and is soft! I'm sure the concept of rum will change. If you come to SEDRA, I would like you to try this lamb chop.
The crunchy texture of the layered dough is new! "Egyptian Pizza"
This pizza has been loved since ancient times in Egypt. Ingredients are put in a thinly stretched dough and baked.
I will show you how to make this pizza because it is very interesting.
Stretch the dough,
turn it by hand.
While swinging around, it gets bigger and bigger.
So big and thin!
Fold the dough.
Put ingredients such as cheese, olives, paprika, and chicken there.
Fold the dough and put it in the oven.
This is how Egyptian pizza is made!
As you can see from the process, the very thin dough is folded, so it has a crunchy texture like pie dough. With pizza, you can't experience this texture anywhere else.
And it is kebab chicken that is used for pizza. It is marinated in spices, onions, and tomato sauce for two days and then baked. The combination of flavorful chicken, cheese and crispy pizza dough creates an exquisite combination.
"Hummos Falafel" with an irresistible scent of garlic and olive oil
Hummus falafel is a very popular dish in Egypt and Arabia. Hummus is the chickpea paste and falafel is the fried chickpeas on top.
Hummus is made by boiling chickpeas that have been soaked in water for about 7 hours, and blending them with ingredients such as sesame paste, garlic, and olive oil into a paste. It's garlicky and punchy, and it's addictive. Hummus is used in various situations, such as eating it in pita bread with falafel.
Falafel also uses chickpeas, mixed with onions, chives, spices, etc., shaped and fried. It looks like a donut, but it has more weight than a donut. It goes great with hummus with garlic and olive oil.
SEDRA also has a wide variety of menu items such as pasta, tagines, and macaroni. Combined with the space inside the store, it is a valuable store where you can immerse yourself in the air of Egypt while in Nagoya. If you like rare things and ethnic cuisine, please try various things.
