" Tsuruton gyoza "is located in front of Exit 3 of Nagoyako Station on the Meiko Subway Line.

Their chewy gyoza dumplings, which are hand-made from the skin on, are their specialty. No garlic is used, so it's perfect for lunch! Of course, it's also great as an accompaniment to beer. It is also close to the Garden Wharf, where Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium is located, so it is recommended to stop by before or after leisure!

Specialties: Grilled Gyoza & Boiled Gyoza! Which one do you prefer?

I thought it was a long-established store because of the name "Tsuruton gyoza", but when I visited, it turned out to be a relatively new store that opened in June 2019. It's on the second floor of a building, so unless you're looking for this store, you'll likely pass by. When you enter the store, you will find a bright atmosphere with ska music playing in the background.

The lanterns inside the store with the words "Tsuruton gyoza" written in large letters have a big impact.

When I asked Mr. Hiroshi Matsuzawa, the owner of the shop, about the name of the shop, he said that "Tsuru" was his grandmother's name. "East: tou" is an image of "Asia / Japan". The word “Tsuruton” is a coined word with an impact.

Tsuruton Grilled Gyoza (6 pieces, 495 yen)

The specialty “Tsuruton grilled gyoza (6 pieces 495 yen)” appeared immediately. The chewy skin and overflowing gravy make this an irresistible delicacy.

Tsuruton Boiled Gyoza (6 pieces 495 yen)

“Tsuruton boiled gyoza” (495 yen for 6 pieces) is also a specialty that is equally popular as grilled gyoza. An image that adds a chewy texture to the chewy texture of fried dumplings. All of the gyoza skins are handmade, but different skins are used for pan-fried and boiled gyoza with a different mix of ingredients such as flour.

I was specially shown the cooking of yaki-gyoza (grilled gyoza). After arranging the gyozas on the iron plate and grilling them lightly, sprinkle plenty of water and slowly steam-grill them for about 4 minutes.

“Our skin is thicker than the store-bought ones, so that the texture remains even after long-time steaming. We went through a lot of trial and error when adding flour and other ingredients to create a springy texture,” says Mr. Matsuzawa. Kneading it vigorously is also the secret to creating a unique texture.

The contents of the fried gyoza are "vegetables: minced pork = 4:6". The vegetables and minced pork are not chopped too much, and the texture remains just right. Vegetables used are chives, cabbage, and green onions, but garlic is not used.

By the way, the stuffing of gyoza are all handmade by the owner's mother. The compatibility with the skin is also excellent! Is it exactly like "parent-child collaboration"?

On the other hand, the boiled dumplings have a slightly meaty ratio of "vegetables: minced pork = 3:7", and have a refreshing taste and are satisfying to eat. Chinese cabbage is used in addition to Chinese chives and green onions for vegetables, and the taste is different from pan-fried dumplings.

Hmmm, this seems to be divided into "grilled gyoza team" and "boiled gyoza team". Well, both are delicious, so please order both.

Another thing that caught my attention was the mill placed on the table. The "Tsuruton gyoza" logo is pasted on it.

This is an original blend of ginger, sansho (Japanese pepper), chili pepper, salt, etc. Sprinkled on dumplings, the taste changes dramatically! It seems to match the menu other than gyoza, so please try it when you come to the store.

Authentic Taiwanese style! The minced pork rice is also highly recommended!

Minced pork rice (small, 440 yen)

There are plenty of menu items other than dumplings. Among them, the shopkeeper's recommended dish, "Ru-ro-han (minced pork rice)" (small, 440 yen), is an authentic dish with a rich aroma of star anise. The pork is chunky on top, but it's not heavy, and you can enjoy it until the very end. The soy sauce is also from Taiwan, and we are particular about the authentic taste.

No matter which menu you order, only authentic and delicious dishes. When I asked the owner which Chinese restaurant he trained at, he was even more surprised when he answered, "I'm mostly self-taught." Before opening this restaurant, the owner tried various gyoza dumplings and Chinese dishes and absorbed the good points of each restaurant. I feel the sense

Of course, those who want to have a drink in town Chinese should be satisfied. They have a wide range of standard drinks, such as draft beer (from 550 yen) and 10-year Shaoxing wine (from 770 yen per glass).

The "drink set (1,100 yen)" that comes with "1 drink (some exceptions apply) + grilled gyoza, boiled gyoza or fried gyoza + 1 small dish item of your choice" is also popular! You can also choose from 10 dishes, which is a great plus. On your way home from work, it would be nice to have a drink at the counter.

Because it is close to the Garden Wharf, where there are plenty of leisure facilities such as Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, many families come to visit. No matter what situation you visit, the delicious dumplings will satisfy you.
