Popular bread made with rice flour
"Mam's"

The popular bakery "Mam's" is always filled with customers. Starting with rice flour bread, there are breads made with carefully selected ingredients such as domestically produced wheat, millet sugar, beet sugar, and mineral salt.

"Kokuto France (320 yen)" using rice flour is said to be the most popular item. The soft and sweet scent of brown sugar with green beans and walnuts, and the chewy texture are delicious!

This is also a popular loaf of bread made with domestic yuda. It has a chewy and addictive texture.

In addition, the "Special Sandwich (550 yen)", which takes time and effort to prepare from the night before, uses free-range eggs that are raised by natural farming methods for 70 yen each on a loaf of bread that uses domestic wheat. The chicken breast marinated in shio-koji (salted rice malt) and horseradish is sandwiched between them, giving it a heavy and satisfying texture.

Rice flour focaccia + dessert ¥550 + drink (organic coffee) ¥950

There are also plenty of set menus for eat-in. The photo is "rice flour focaccia + dessert".

The focaccia is made by kneading brown rice and white rice cooked with “organic reduced pesticide rice” into a dough made with rice flour, giving it a chewy texture!

There are plenty of ingredients such as eggs, tomatoes, salad chicken, lettuce, cheese, and plenty of vegetables.

There is also a terrace seat for eat-in, so please enjoy it according to the scene such as leisurely morning breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

If you want to take a break, the sweets shop “Sabo Tomiya” is perfect!

"Sabo Tomiya" was founded with the idea of "wanting more people to enjoy traditional sweets that incorporate plenty of ingredients used in Japanese sweets."

The menu is based on the standard menu throughout the year, and seasonal menus such as the spring/summer menu and the autumn/winter menu are provided.

The "Matcha Daifuku Set (650 yen)", which is a set of cream warabi daifuku and matcha green tea, is the most popular item on the menu. By the way, cream warabi daifuku can also be taken out!

* "Coffee and Daifuku set 580 yen" is also available

Inside the thin-skinned mochi, there are three layers of red bean paste, fresh cream, and brown sugar bracken-starch dumpling, creating an exquisite harmony. The combination of Japanese and Western flavors is a perfect match, and you can enjoy the sweetness and texture of each.

Also, this "Brown sugar warabi mochi (with three-color shiratama red bean paste)" (650 yen) is a popular menu throughout the year. Warabimochi (bracken-starch mochi), which is accented with the sweet aroma of brown sugar, is served with soybean flour. Shiratama dumplings are also included, and it is enough to eat!

In addition, there are plenty of set menus such as zenzai and shiratama anmitsu. By the way, drinks such as "Organic coffee (with sweets) (450 yen)" and "Matcha milk (with sweets) (580 yen)" are all reasonably priced!

Manju, which can also be purchased separately, is a good souvenir to commemorate your trip!

A world of fantastic lights spreads out
"Mino Washi Akari Art Museum"

Once a year, an exhibition of light art using Mino washi paper is held in Udatsu-style Houses.
During this period, the entire town takes on a magical atmosphere.

The Akari Art Exhibition is only available for a limited time, but you can still see it throughout the year at the Mino Washi Akari Art Museum.

On the 1st floor, lamps and sundries that can be purchased are displayed.

The second floor is a floor that creates the atmosphere of the Akari Art Exhibition. Every year, 300 to 400 works of art using Mino Washi are submitted for this exhibition, and there are a variety of unique works from elementary school students to the general public.

The fish on the right is a work by a first-year junior high school student representing a red sea bream. The scales, skin, and even the jagged teeth of the fish are delicate and realistic!

A work representing a peach. The net that wraps the peach is also reproduced with Japanese paper.

In the exhibition room, you will be amazed that these are made of Washi paper! You will be surprised to see them all! The watermark, one of the characteristics of washi, is enhanced by the light passing through it. The works, which are made with attention to detail, are truly delicate, and you can fully appreciate the charm of washi in this space.

By the way, you can get a discount if you buy a joint ticket with the Former Imai House! It's a 2-minute walk from the Former Imai House, so be sure to take a look around as well.

Take a leisurely stroll while feeling the history!

Udatsu-style Houses can be fully enjoyed in half a day.

We also recommend going a little further and taking a walk along the Nagara River. It is a spot where you can feel the original scenery of Japan during the cherry blossom and autumn leaves seasons, so if you have the chance, please enjoy a walk.

Worked for about 9 years at a publishing company that develops wedding information magazines, beauty products, and food and beverage products. After getting married and retiring, my love for travel increased and I became a freelance writer. Due to a family transfer, I went to Fukuoka and Hiroshima, and currently live in Nagoya. Enjoying and discovering the charms of not only Aichi Prefecture but also the three Tokai prefectures. My specialties are shrines and hot springs, and I also love delicious food. We will deliver "new discoveries" to the "normal" of local people.
