[Film camera in hand] Strolling along the Endoji shopping street, a nostalgic area of the Showa period. (QuickSnap edition)

Hello. I'm Kanae, a photographer. (Kanae Hori) I usually work at a web design company, and as a dedicated photographer, I mainly take photos for use on websites, but also for various media.
I use a digital camera on a daily basis, but this time I took a walk around Endoji Shopping Street with a QuickSnap in hand.
What is the appeal of film cameras?
What I chose for this walk is "Utsurun desu" (QuickSnap).
It's easy to take pictures with a smartphone, but you don't know how a film picture will look without developing it. It may be blurred. There may be photos that are out of focus... Sometimes it's all white. However, the real pleasure of film photography is that it is interesting not to know what is being photographed.
Even so, if it is "Utsurun desu", no difficult operation is required. You can easily enjoy a film camera just by developing it.
Then, I would like to go to Endoji shopping street!
The "Endoji Shopping Street" consists of three shopping streets: Endoji, Endoji Honmachi and West Endoji. The shopping streets retain a retro atmosphere, but there is a mix of new stores among them.
I arrived at Endoji shopping street early, but I was feeling hungry, so I had croquettes at Maruko Meat Shop.
The old-fashioned croquettes are 90 yen each. You can get them freshly fried right on the spot, so you can stroll around while eating. Ham cutlets and mince cutlets are also very tasty.
When I was walking in the shopping street, I found a small shrine called "Konpira Shrine". It seems that you can draw a fortune written in the Nagoya dialect here.
I pulled it out right away.
...The result is Suekichi .......
(This is a picture from my smart phone, but I'll put it up.)
I didn't feel depressed at all because I felt it was written in a good way in spite of Suekichi! And I wondered why it feels so much lighter in Nagoya dialect?
Still, I tied it up and left with a good feeling.
It's almost noon, so I decided to have lunch.
The shop I chose is the long-established restaurant "Haneebi", which has Showa scent even from the outside.
I would like to eat the famous fried shrimp.
The famous fried shrimps are fried on the spot after ordering, so you can enjoy the crunchy outside and the plump prawns inside.
Haneebi's deep-fried shrimp uses 1.5 pieces of shrimps because a half shrimp is added to one opened shrimp, and it's very filling.
By the way, on this day, there was also a crab cream croquette for lunch, which was also excellent! !
Since my stomach was satisfied, I decided to wander into the alley.
There are many narrow alleys and backstreets in Endoji shopping street, so you will want to walk around various streets.
For some reason, I'm curious about the retro arcade that says "Endoji Ginza Shopping Street".
When I went through the arcade and entered the back, a cat welcomed me. The shops in Endoji Ginza shopping district are still active.
This cat must be the boss here. Is it dazzling? He has a very charming face.
After passing through the arcade, I arrived at a walking path called "Shikemichi". Shikemichi miraculously survived the war, so even now the pre-war townscape remains. In 1986, it was designated as a townscape preservation district of Nagoya City.
The scenery will make you feel as if you have slipped back in time to the Edo period. In recent years, the number of cafés and restaurants in storehouses and townhouses built on stone walls has increased.
I sometimes eat around here, and I like it because I feel as if I have taken a short trip even though I am in Nagoya.
If you go a little farther along the Horikawa River, you will find NO DETAIL IS SMALL, which is quietly hidden in a back alley.
The store is lined with carefully selected notebooks.
Here you can also choose from paper and make your own original notebook. It's hard to believe that there are so many types.
You can also have coffee in the store, so after making an original notebook, it seems good to drink coffee and relax.
When walking along Shikemichi, there is a flower shop "emof" in the corner of the tenement house. Just by suddenly seeing a flower shop in town is exciting.
If you go straight from "emof", you will find “French Baked Confectionery CHANDELIER” where you can have authentic French confectionery.
All of them look delicious! One of the most popular items is the Grapefruit Tart. A crispy tart filled with plenty of grapefruit and pistachio cream.
There were many other baked goods and cakes on display. I bought some as souvenirs and ate them with our staff and we were very impressed. You can also eat in at the store. Please visit Endoji and stop by if you go to the shopping street.
