"Former China room" with Chinese Style
The one facing the landing on the second floor is the “Former China Room”.
From the Taisho era to the early Showa era, it was common for intellectuals and the middle class to incorporate Chinese style into part of their residences. It is a small room of about 3 tatami mats, but it is said that it is not known how it was used. However, since it was on a hill before it was relocated, it is thought that it was a room with a great view overlooking Nagoya Castle and Ontake.
Exhibiting Materials on Famous Literary Figures Associated with Nagoya
In the exhibition room on the second floor, you can see famous writers with ties to Nagoya, including Shoyo Tsubouchi, the founder of modern literature, Saburo Shiroyama (Naoki Prize), Tsuyoshi Kotani (Akutagawa Prize), Miyoshi Enatsu (Toshiko Tamura Prize), and Ken Kasugai (Chouku Prize).
The study that Saburo Shiroyama used before has been reproduced.
Some of the materials can also be picked up and read.
The luxurious mansion, also known as the “Futaba Palace,” was very impressive, as you could feel the attention paid to the details by the residents. Even if you don't know much about history, you will definitely enjoy the buildings and interiors full of Taisho romance.
At "The Cultural Path Futaba Museum”, materials related to the cultural path are also on display, so it is recommended as a starting point for a walk on the cultural path.
