KAIKA Tokyo by THE SHARE HOTELS: A Fusion of Art Storage and Hotel in Asakusa, Tokyo!

Opened in 2020 in Asakusa, Tokyo, "KAIKA Tokyo by THE SHARE HOTELS (hereafter: KAIKA)" is a fusion of art storage and a hotel.

In a space converted from a former warehouse building, 9 art storages for art galleries and works collected from the general public "KAIKA TOKYO AWARD" are stored and exhibited. They provide guests from Japan and abroad with a new appreciation experience in a place like the backstage of the art scene.

I actually stayed at "KAIKA" this time, so I would like to make a report on it.

・Enjoy works of art by up-and-coming artists
・Walking distance to Asakusa and Kuramae
・The interior is more spacious than expected

KAIKA is conveniently located, about 8 minutes on foot from Toei Asakusa Line "Asakusa Station", about 9 minutes on foot from Toei Asakusa Line "Honjo Azumabashi Station", and about 9 minutes on foot from Toei Oedo Line "Kuramae Station".

Both Asakusa and Kuramae can be visited on foot.

When you open the door that looks like a warehouse, you will be greeted by an art work of a bear. As soon as you enter, art works are lined up in the storage. It is irresistible for art lovers.

Enjoy the Works of Art!

At KAIKA, art works are displayed on the basement floor to 6th floors, including temporary exhibitions.
Among them, the shared space on the basement floor is open only to guests. Guests can freely enjoy the works of art from 7:00 to 23:00.

This is the common space lounge on the first basement floor. Here, six art storages are open to the public for guests only.

The lounge table is also equipped with outlets, so it's perfect as a workspace! You can have tea for free. There are electric kettles, microwave ovens, toasters, plates, and cutlery, so you can cook by yourself.

It's kind of exciting as if you've sneaked into a secret base. You won't know what kind of artwork you can see until the day of the visit.

Non-guests can enter the first floor, and there are two art storages are installed. The exhibitions are mainly special exhibitions, so you can come across new works every time you visit.

Art works are displayed on each floor and in the elevator.
Please visit all floors and enjoy the art appreciation.

A Cafe where You can Spend Time while Enjoying Art
"safn°"

On the 1st floor, there is a cafe "safn°" where you can enjoy coffee and food pairing. safn° means museum in Icelandic. While it is a cafe where you can enjoy art in a slow-moving time, it is full of academic and intelligent air.

Art works are also displayed here and there, so please take your time to appreciate the works while having a cup of coffee.

Simple and Cozy Room

A guest room with a simple design.
It is a calm room using basic colors.

In hotels in Tokyo, there are many rooms that are cramped when you carry in your luggage, but KAIKA is spacious. All rooms are spacious, so you can spend your time comfortably.

Original tea bags were also prepared in the room. There are two types: “Green Tea” and “Ginger & Lemongrass Black Tea”.

Water was not prepared, so it is recommended to purchase it in advance.

The big point for me personally was the large bathroom. The bathroom and toilet are separated except for the guest room "BUNK6".

Just soaking in the bath will revive yourself.

Choose from 2 types of Breakfast!

You can choose from two types of breakfast sets: "Tartine" using fresh seasonal vegetables, meat and fish, and "Buddha Bowl" which is a rice bowl made with VEGAN ingredients.

Both are served with warm seasonal soups.
I imagined a simple breakfast, so I was impressed by the quality.

This time, we introduced "KAIKA Tokyo by THE SHARE HOTELS" where you can enjoy art. In addition to art, there is also a bar and goods shop that can be used from day to night. It is a hotel with an art storage that is exciting just to visit.
