Introducing Kikunoya's recommended products!

Showcase

Finally, here are some of Kikunoya's recommended products. All of the sweets have a gentle taste and are nostalgic. They are sweet enough to gently soothe your feelings.

"Wagashi" where you can enjoy the season

Japanese sweets
From left to right: Fu Manju (¥140), Hydrangea (¥145), Mizu Manju (¥140)

First of all, Japanese confectionery made by Mr. Koichi, the second generation.

One of the pleasures of Japanese confectionery is that the products change with the seasons. On this particular day, there were hydrangeas, mizu-manju (water dumpling), and other confections that evoke the feeling of summer. They do not start selling them on any particular day, but make them based on their sense of the season or in response to customer feedback, such as "It's time to make mizu-manju".

“Suzuka River Manju” made with Suzuka City Sake

Sake manju made using the Suzuka River from Shimizu Kiyosaburo Shoten, a brewery in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture. Plenty of red bean paste inside the thin skin! The scent of sake wafts through your nose, which is unique to sake manju.

Also popular as a gift! "History of Kodayu"

History of Kodayu ¥115

Kikunoya's popular busse "Kodayu no Ayumi (History of Kodayu)" has been on sale for about 25 years. The light and fluffy bouchée melts easily in the mouth.

There are three types of sweets: “Ogura An (red bean paste)” with a gentle sweetness, “Fresh Butter”, which is popular for its sweet and salty taste, and “Matcha An” with a hint of tea leaves. It is also recommended as a gift!

Wakamatsu, Suzuka City, where Kikunoya is located, is the hometown of Kodayu Daikokuya, a Japanese who drifted to Russia and returned for the first time after experiencing Russia, so it was named "Kodayu's History".

Marble castella is so loved by the locals that they say, “When you think of Kikunoya, you think of marble castella!” As an offering to Hotoke-sama (ancestors), it continues to be close to the lives of the community.

Japanese and Western collaboration "Mochi-filled choux"

Sponge is the point! "Strawberry Shortcake"

From here, we will introduce the Western sweets made by Shinji, the third generation owner.

One push is "strawberry shortcake". The point is "Shitori Sponge". It is a special sponge that the father, who trained at a famous store in Kobe, inherited the recipe. When you take a bite, you will definitely be impressed by its smoothness. It's simple, so you can understand the real taste.

Very popular with children! "Crepe roll"

Fresh taste that you want to eat on a hot day! "Orange Jelly"

"Orange Jelly" with orange as it is. Filled with fresh orange juice jelly. You will become addicted to the freshness and slightly astringent taste that comes from squeezing the juice. It is recommended to eat it with a chill on a hot day!

Fragrant baked confectionery “FLAVA”

FLAVA

FLAVA

The last item on our list is “FLAVA,” a baked confectionery branded by Tomofumi, who is also a designer. The point is the scent of brandy and fruits that you can smell the moment you put it in your mouth. Since alcohol is used, it is a baked confectionery that goes well with whiskey and alcohol. There are four flavors: chocolate, earl gray, fruit, and cashew nuts.

It was born from Mr. Tomofumi's thoughts that "I want younger generations to know Kikunoya" and "I want them to use Kikunoya as a gift."

Mr. Chifumi Kobayashi

We asked Chifumi-san about future prospects.

Chifumi-san:"I feel that Kikunoya must change with the times. But it is very difficult to change while respecting the customers we have had until now. ...... I don't want to disappoint them.

Our customers have loved Kikunoya and will continue to love us. That is my theme now. We still have a lot of work to do, and we are still exploring, but I want to make Kikunoya that kind of store, even if it takes a long time."

It is said that the personality of the person who makes the food and sweets is reflected in them. True to his words, all of Kikunoya's sweets were gentle and had a taste that made me want to eat them again. I hope that the taste of Kikunoya will continue to be passed down.
