[Nishi-ku, Nagoya] Cafe close to the locals "Coffee, book and record shop Little Tree"

Coffee, book and record store Little Tree is a home-roasted coffee shop located 15 minutes on foot from Nagoya Station on the Higashiyama Subway Line, right next to Noritake Garden.

As the name of the shop suggests, it is a coffee shop where you can enjoy “books and records” along with coffee.

You can spend your morning at your leisure. Or just take a breather and have a drink after dinner. This time, we would like to introduce you to Little Tree, which is full of charm.

Enjoy freedom with coffee in hand
A wonderful space in Little Tree

The building has a retro look with tiled exterior walls and a white sign. Outside, there are many plants such as olive trees and morning glories!

You can order to-go coffee from the small window in the front.

In contrast to the exterior, the warm lighting inside the store is unified with white and wood grain.

It seems that the basic structure of the shop was designed and constructed by a close acquaintance. However, the interior is all finished by the owner!

The entrance door, which perfectly matches the atmosphere of the store, was found at an antique market. With no interlocking doorknob and no keyhole, they found a locksmith to make a key, repaired the knob, and reborn the door as a new door.

There are also counter seats, so it's easy for one person to enter.

The bookshelves on the walls are filled with books of various genres, including literary novels, autobiographies, and literary magazines useful for daily life. All can be read freely.

The light that comes in through the window will make you feel at ease.

When I went to the back of the store, there was a record booth! The handmade record wall shelf is stylish.

The records on display are picturesque.

70s-90s techno, fusion, disco, jazz-funk, etc. There are many records that will appeal to music lovers.

Just looking at the booth is fun, just like a record shop.

If you find a record you are interested in, you can try it. Both used books and records are available for purchase.

Delicious coffee anytime
You can taste it because it is a home-roasted coffee shop
Cup of bliss!

Coffee with a variety of flavors depending on the type and degree of roasting of the beans.

In order to provide delicious coffee, Little Tree must control the quality of its beans on a daily basis, including adjusting the amount of roasting.

In-house roasting machine. A good aroma of coffee spreads.

To prevent oxidation, the beans are roasted in small amounts that can be used up. Only the freshest coffee beans are used and each cup is carefully hand dripped.

Still, cost performance is from 400 yen per cup ◎.

About 5 types of coffee beans are always available.

If you are not sure which one to choose, please consult with the owner. They will help you choose the coffee that best suits your tastes.

Coffee beans that slowly swell when hot water is poured.

Another nice point is that you can order refills of coffee with a 200 yen discount.

Enjoy leisurely until 11:30
Little Tree 's morning breakfast and delicious dessert

There are probably many people who are not good at getting up early, but who like to visit for a  morning breakfast. I am one of them.

Little Tree 's morning breakfast service is open until 11:30 a.m., which is great for those who like to take their mornings slowly.

<Drink Menu> *All prices include tax

〇 Coffee (all ice cream +100 yen)
・Indonesia 500 yen
・Colombia 400 yen
・Brazil 400 yen
・Ethiopia 450 yen
・Guatemala 450 yen

・Coffee float 650 yen
・Shinshu apple juice 450 yen

You can add jam for an additional charge of 100 yen, or you can change it to a sandwich (egg sandwich or kinpira sandwich) for an additional 150 yen.

The jam lineup included kiwi jam, citrus juicy fruit, and Ogura.
*The type of jam varies depending on the season.

I love kiwi, so I added kiwi jam.

In the morning breakfast, you can order a drink and receive a free toast and salad (sometimes the salad is soup).

For coffee, I had Indonesian (Mandering: Bintang Lima).

In Indonesian, Bintang means "star" and Lima means "five".

The beans are said to be the highest quality of all Mandarin beans, whose quality is thoroughly controlled, with the raw materials transported to exporters by dawn after shipping in a state of parchment*1 to prevent deterioration of the beans' quality!

*1......The light brown skin that wraps around the coffee bean that is removed during the refining process. If we compare it to rice, it is the state of brown rice before it is polished!

It was the best coffee to wake up to, with less sourness and peculiarity and a solid bitterness.

Toast topped with a generous amount of kiwi jam also arrived. The moderate tartness, refreshing sweetness, and juicy pulp are addictive!

The thick slice of toast is crispy when you bite into it and fluffy inside. Your stomach and heart will be filled with happiness.

Morning breakfast Service is good for to-go; it's nice to be able to enjoy a good cup of coffee outside.

In addition to morning breakfast, cake is recommended with coffee at afternoon tea time.

Sweet and delicious handmade desserts and freshly brewed coffee go perfectly together.

Basque cheesecake (350 yen including tax)

The basque cheesecake, which has a charred surface, has a rich taste.

The lemon peel inside gives it a refreshing flavor. The unique and irresistible texture of the basque cheesecake makes this dish a must-try.

Banana cake (350 yen including tax)

The sliced banana topping is beautiful.

Satisfaction with eating more than it looks is ★ 5! The moist cake dough contains bananas and nuts, making it a fun and crunchy dessert.

Extra edition:
It's too cute, Little Tree!

The inside of Little Tree is a space that anyone who loves antiques and vintage items will be able to shout in their hearts, "It's so cute!!"

Everywhere you look there is something wonderful. 'Isn't there at least one weird thing?' And I looked everywhere but couldn't find.

Here are some stylish things that made my heart flutter while having a cup of coffee.

Library lending card shelf

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary cabinet from the front, but when you go around to the back to see it, you will see so many drawers! In fact, this is a library card storage cabinet.

I thought it was just a special cabinet because the size of the installed cash register is perfect. What a wonderful surprise.

The retro feeling matched the atmosphere of the shop, and it was a very cute antique furniture.

Perfect for placing cash registers, trays, and shop cards.

coffee cup and saucer

Coffee cups and saucers, the owner's specialties, were beautifully lined up on a rack on the counter. The unique colors of the antique tableware are very vivid and lovely.

The excitement of waiting to see what kind of coffee cup will be served is one of the joys of being at a coffee shop.

This time, a very cute coffee cup with a carriage drawn on a thick cup. I really fell in love with it.

Handmade small items

Cute miscellaneous goods such as dolls and wreaths were displayed here and there in the shop.

dried fruit wreath

Surprisingly, all of the items were made by the shop owner whose hobby is making things!

Every time I find miniature dollhouses, dolls and animals, I can't help but smile.

Some handmade wreaths and masks are sold in the same way as books and records.

Changing into new aprons. The dolls are also handmade, of course. They are beautifully made down to the smallest detail.

The owner of the store says that he likes to take things that are already there and give them a new lease on life, rather than buying all new items. True to owner's word, the store is furnished exclusively with DIY, vintage, and antique furniture.

Some are placed casually, others have a strong presence. From the smallest to the largest, I felt the warmth and attention to detail of the owner from everything in the store.

A very cute and well-behaved beckoning cat from Little Tree. He is capricious, so you will be lucky if you can see him.

A great souvenir for your loved ones!
Enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee in the comfort of your own home

The store sells home-roasted beans from 120 grams. It is also recommended for small souvenirs.

There are various types, so please enjoy it at home.

I bought "Brazil Premium Chocolat" for my home.

Enchanted by the scent of coffee beans that spreads with opening.

You can enjoy about 10 cups of coffee with 1 bag (120g).

It was a delicious coffee with less acidity and a rich and fragrant bitterness.

It's nice to be able to enjoy home-roasted coffee at home.

Little Tree also holds events at irregular intervals.
