Unique but timeless design

- Please tell us about the points you are particular about when selecting products.

Daisuke-san: "Recently, classic styles are popular, so there are many shops with similar glasses. That's why we focus on unique glasses that you can't find anywhere else. I've always really liked the Belgian brand "theo", so I always wanted to have it in my store, but I wondered if it would sell because it was too eccentric.

However, I was very surprised to find that more people were biting than I had imagined. Even the most eccentric items sold well. I had a certain amount of ordinary eyeglasses, but on the contrary, these did not sell well (laughs). It's more fun for me to have what I like, and I want my customers to enjoy choosing the ones they like as well.

Tips for choosing glasses

Tips for choosing glasses

-Do you have any tips or suggestions for choosing eyeglasses?

Daisuke-san: "The point is to match the lines of your eyebrows and eyes. Glasses are generally curved, but I think it will look great if you match them.

Magazines often say what the shape of the face is, but it doesn't really matter. For example, even for people with long faces, the shape of the face can be affected by the way the hair is styled, so to be honest, you can't really tell until you try on the glasses. However, it is better to match the position of the iris with the width of the lens. The center is difficult, but it should be a little inward. If the lenses are too inner, the eyes will look too close.

I think it's hard for customers to understand the size that suits them, so I try to recommend it while talking to them. My wife has knowledge of personal colors, so I will suggest colors that suit customers. ”

Kaori-san: "Even if you have a favorite color, you rarely know your own personal color. Not all of them apply with glasses, but I think it is better for a person to know the colors that suit him or her as well. I think it will be one of the factors that will help me make a better decision when choosing glasses."

Enjoy glasses like you enjoy clothes

-How would you like people to enjoy your glasses?

Daisuke-san: "Glasses are something that can express a person's personality, so funny people should wear funny glasses, and I want people to enjoy them as accessories and a way of expression, like clothes, rather than as tools for looking."

Kaori-san: "We also change the color depending on the season and the outfit. In summer, large glasses are too heavy, so we use light, clear glasses for a cooler look, or tortoiseshell or heavy colors for fall and winter.

Especially now that I am in my 30s, I think that absolutely everyone will become presbyopic someday. I think it is better to become familiar with spectacles from an early age so that when that time comes, we can wear them without any resistance. By doing so, we can accept presbyopia in a positive way. There is a big difference between enjoying wearing spectacles and wearing them because you feel bad about your presbyopia.

Connecting people through glasses

-Lastly, we asked about future developments.

Daisuke-san: "We did this once before, but I think it would be great if we could use the store space to exhibit artwork and also use it as an event space. Glasses are not easily associated with events, but if we can increase the number of things people can enjoy while being involved with glasses, I think it will be a good opportunity for many people to become aware of glasses. I think it would be a good opportunity to let people know about eyeglasses.

Personally, I'd be happy if there were more and more eyeglass shops like this. Some people don't like wearing brands, but it would be interesting if there was a glasses festival that gathered individual shops."

Kaori-san: "I would like to utilize my knowledge as a color analyst to further master personal color x eyeglasses. I would like to propose spectacles that include makeup that would suit the customer."
