Delicious coffee, tarts and art "See Saw gallery +hibit"

Hello. I'm Rika Ito, a printmaker living in Aichi Prefecture.

This time, I went to see an exhibition by Katsuhisa Sato and Fuminao Suenaga, which is currently being held at See Saw gallery+hibit under the title "Sukoshi Saki" (Slightly ahead). See Saw gallery has delicious coffee, so I would like to report on that as well.

About 3 minutes on foot from "Sogo Rehabilitation Center" station on the subway Meijo Line. See Saw gallery+hibit is located in a quiet residential area.

Entrance

This is the entrance. Climb the stairs and the wooden door in the back is the entrance. The guard dog Luke is welcoming us today.

cats

They also have cats.

entry table

When you enter the entrance, there is a register desk in front of you. Please write your name here. They would love to have your impressions as well.

Menu

The first step is to order.

I ordered a cake set - coffee and a homemade tart. The tart contain blueberries, pumpkins, and other seasonal delicacies. It seems that there are many apples in this season.

In the meantime, let's appreciate the work.

Works by Katsuhisa Sato

Mr. Katsuhisa Sato's work, from left to right: "Sochi Kochi" and "Empty Frame"

There are works in the cafe space and the gallery space where the works are displayed.

Expansion of "Suzui". The flipped canvas looks colorful and sparkling.

Some artists have their works displayed in the garden.

The white work on the pillar is Mr. Katsuhisa Sato's "Meow", and the colorful work on the wall is Mr. Katsuhisa Sato's "Piyo Piyo". You can see the gallery space in the back.

A work by Fuminao Suenaga.

What is the title of this?

Works by Fumio Suenaga

Viewed from the front. It is neat to be placed alone! It's beautiful.

The correct answer is "sponge and soap".

Many of Suenaga's works are painted with acrylic paint on wood, but I wondered what this was, and when I saw the title, it was refreshing! !

Gallery space

This is the gallery space. Two works by Mr. Sato and Mr. Suenaga are on display. From the left, Mr. Katsuhisa Sato's "perch bird" and "festival bird". There are other birds, too. Please look for it.

Fuminao Suenaga's representative works "cardboard box" and "tape"

Outlet on both ends ......?

"Outlet" by Fuminao Suenaga

The work was on the right. "Outlet" by Fuminao Suenaga.

Mr. Sato and Mr. Suenaga met in Tokyo and have been friends for 20 years.

I felt that there was something that resonated with the place where I was born and the place where I studied. Each of them has exhibited at various museums and galleries in Japan and is active.

This is the first two-person exhibition.

It's been 20 years since Mr. Sato and Mr. Suenaga met. See Saw gallery+hibit celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. During the talk on the first day, they said that they would like to see See Saw gallery exhibit their works on its 20th anniversary.

I think that the appeal of Mr. Sato and Mr. Suenaga's work lies in the idea, the comfort of the arrangement, the feeling of comfort when facing the work, or the sense of incongruity. It's like poetry, like it leaves something in your heart that you don't really understand after reading it.

Next time, I would like to go outside and visit the hibit space.
