What is a Spiced Curry Anyway?

First of all, let’s review spice curry again!

Spiced curry was born in “Osaka”. Although there is no strict definition, the main attraction of spice curry is its unique use of spices, which is different from the authentic Indian or Sri Lankan curry, and the stimulation of the spices can be tasted directly.

The curry is often topped with vegetables, pickled herbs, spices, and other ingredients to create a beautiful appearance and a complex flavor!

Curry Miyoshi, where the Use of Spices is Captivating!

First, we would like to introduce a popular restaurant in Tsurumai, “Curry Miyoshi.” Since its opening, there has been a long line of customers waiting in line at lunch time.

The most popular dish is the “Two kinds of Curry – Aigake (1,200 yen). ” You can enjoy two kinds of curry at the same time: the creamy “Coconut Milk Chicken Curry (900 yen for a single dish)” richly flavored with coconut milk, and the “Chicken Keema Bean Curry (900 yen for a single dish)” filled with beans flavored with cloves and cardamom.

The colorful pickles are also made by the owner. The owner, Mr. Miyoshi, is also a professional vegetable grower and makes excellent use of his ingredients! The curry is a combination of more than 10 different spices, and when you eat it, your body will feel warm and fuzzy. It is also delicious to mix the pickles with curry.

The lingering spiciness makes you want to eat it again and again.

“Yanggao” where You Can Taste “Gaeng Hanley Curry” from Northern Thailand.

Next is Yanggao, a Thai curry restaurant located in Joshin, Nishi-ku, Nagoya. The restaurant is attracting attention as a place where customers can taste ” Gaeng Hanley Curry,” a curry from the Chiang Mai region in northern Thailand. The curry is characterized by the harmony of pork cooked until it is perfectly tender and the freshness of ginger, making it a mysterious curry that becomes addictive once tasted.

The name of the restaurant, “หยั่งเก่า (Yanggao)” is an old dialect word from the Chiang Mai region, meaning “as usual.” It expresses the owner’s desire to create an everyday space where young and old, locals and people from faraway places can blend together naturally.

“Massaman Curry” is a Thai curry that originated in southern Thailand. The curry has a deep, rich, sweet flavor with a hint of spiciness. The rice used is Thai jasmine rice.

“Kua Curry with Shrimp and Bamboo Shoots” is a Thai curry originating from northern Thailand. The richness of coconut milk and shrimp is combined with the freshness of lemongrass and kabumikan leaves to create a spicy and sour taste.

Although ” Gaeng Hanley Curry” is rare in Japan yet, the way of eating it is also arranged in Japanese style, so even if you are not familiar with Thai curry, please try Yanggao’s curry at least once.
