PM12:00 Stroll around Okage Yokocho & Oharai Machi
After visiting the shrine, we will be waiting for you! Let's take a walk around Okage Yokocho & Oharai Machi. There are many restaurants along the approach to the shrine where you can eat while walking, so this time I decided to look for souvenirs while walking around.
What is Okage Yokocho & Oharai Machi?
Located in a section of the Naiku Monzenmachi, Okage Yokocho is a relocated and reconstructed area of representative buildings from the Edo and Meiji periods on the Iseji road. Within the approximately 4,000 tsubo of land, there are many fun spots, such as food shops and souvenir shops that are unique to Ise-Shima.
Oharai-machi, on the other hand, is a beautiful stone-paved street that stretches approximately 800 meters from Uji Bridge along the Isuzu River. The streets are lined with gabled-roofed and gabled-entry houses, a style characteristic of Oise-san. The streets are lined with many souvenir stores, restaurants, and merchant houses, making it a pleasant place to walk around after visiting the shrine.
In addition, there are historical buildings such as the Jingu Dojo and the priest's office, and it is filled with a retro atmosphere that is typical of Ise. If you walk along the tasteful narrow alleys, you will arrive at the clear flowing Isuzu River. It is a recommended spot full of atmosphere that you can enjoy while taking a leisurely stroll along the river.
With so many shops lining the streets, it can be hard to decide where to go.
First of all, I had a katana fried chicken and Iseshima highball, which was likened to a sword! It seems that it is a local highball made by adding carbonic acid to the matured shochu "Kounen", which has been loved for a long time in Ise-Shima.
The nostalgic design of the bottle is also cute, and you can enjoy the refreshing carbonation. It was very easy to drink and delicious. The combination of fried chicken and highball is also excellent!
Next, I had fried oyster skewers from Ise Kadoya Beer! You can have the fried oysters after you order, so you can enjoy fluffy and juicy fried oysters.
I got the tartar sauce!
We would like you to try Ebiya Shoten's abalone skewers. You can have a whole one for 750 yen!
The thick abalone can be enjoyed simply with grilled salt or homemade butter soy sauce. It's soft, juicy, and you can eat it in no time.
If you go to Ise, you can't miss the Ise specialty "Akafuku". I had Akafuku Zenzai with fragrant mochi.
Large grains of Dainagon azuki beans are carefully boiled so as not to spoil the grains and flavor of the azuki beans. It is said that the mochi is baked after receiving an order.
It is one of the must-try foods when you go to Ise.
If you have time, please visit Akafuku Isuzugawa store. Here, you can purchase the limited Akafuku Mochi "Isuzuno Asobi Mochi"!
You can enjoy 4 types of white bean paste, which is a combination of white azuki beans and hand-roasted beans, mung bean paste with young barley leaves, yellow bean paste with corn, and black bean paste with brown sugar flavor. If you have the chance, getting your hands on Akafuku, which can only be purchased here, should be a memory of your trip.
Sales start at 12:30 * Sales will end as soon as the products are sold out
Next to the Isuzugawa store is the Akataro Shop, which sells goods of Akafuku's character, Akataro.
At the store, there are items that can only be purchased here, such as Akataro towel handkerchiefs and Akataro dolls.
Akafuku key chains were also sold! This will grab the hearts of Akafuku fans! I personally liked it too.
Okage Yokocho is home to Japan's smallest sake brewery. We are the brewery of ``Okage-sama'', which was named after the spirit of gratitude to the gods of Ise and nature, and the lively ``Okage-mairi'' festival. We have a wide selection of sake that is unique to Ise City's only brewery.
In addition to sales, there are paid tastings of 0.5 go and 1 go. This time, I had "Okagesama Nigori Yuzu", which is popular with women. Ise local sake "Okagesama" is blended with yuzu juice from Odai Town, Mie Prefecture. A yuzu liqueur that allows you to enjoy the refreshing aroma and acidity of natural yuzu.
Even if you can't drink alcohol, you can try Amazake, so please visit the shop.
PM 15: 00 Let's buy souvenirs and go home!
When you are strolling around, it will be a good time in no time. Finally, we would like to introduce two recommended shops for buying Ise souvenirs.

Here you can find original products such as handicrafts, Ise cotton, Banko ware, Odashi, Rakugan, etc.
Recommended products from Ebiya Shoten
"Iserakugan", the icon of Ebiya turned into rakugan. The hammer is yuzu, the teapot is Ise tea, the cherry blossoms are salted cherry blossoms, the pearls are pearl salt, and the torii is peas. And around the rakugan is white konpeito, which is an image of the white stone of the shrine.
Not only is it cute to look at, but it is also a masterpiece that has been carefully crafted by craftsmen.
ce"Ebiya's Karinto" comes in three flavors: pearl salt, sea lettuce, and Ise lobster. Pearl salt is salt made from clean seawater and pearls from Minami-Ise town that are slowly cooked using traditional methods. The mild and extremely flavorful taste of the salt makes the karinto an exquisite delicacy.
After baking the dough, let it rest overnight to adjust the moisture content before frying. The umami of the shrimp kneaded into the batter and the sweetness of the onions are in harmony with each other, creating an elegant deep-fried senbei. You can eat as many as you like with its crispy and light texture.

Ichishina, a variety store in front of Ise Jingu Jingu Naiku
The ichishina Naiku store is located about a one-minute walk from the torii gate of Ise Jingu (Naiku). At this store, we mainly have items made by artists from Mie Prefecture.
The concept is "one product for a lifetime". We have selected simple and long-lasting items that you will want to cherish for the rest of your life.
Especially popular is the original masking tape. Various motifs related to Ise are incorporated into the design. For example, here is the most popular "Torii no Ichinichi". The torii gate is used as a motif to express the expression of Ise Jingu in the morning and at night.
In addition, there are many unique and cute items, such as the white plover that inhabits the sandy beaches of Ise Bay, and Matsuzaka beef arranged in a small pattern.
Another popular item is the gamaguchi, which uses Ise cotton, a traditional craft from Mie Prefecture. Ise cotton flourished during the Meiji era, but now only “Usui Orifu Co., Ltd.” in Tsu City is the only company.
The Ise cotton produced by craftsmen on the "Toyota loom" is a very valuable item that can only produce about 1 tan (13 m) per day with a single power loom. It is manufactured using the traditional striped pattern in modern colors and patterns while maintaining the original manufacturing method.
Tenugui is another item that you should definitely check out. There are many kinds of towels, such as marbled Matsusaka beef and tenugui with the motif of Ise-Shima.
Each item is carefully crafted, and is filled with the love of the staff. After visiting Ise Jingu, please visit ichishina and find a dish that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
