What's The World Children's Art Museum in Okazaki

The World Children's Art Museum in Okazaki was established as a place where children, who will be responsible for the next generation, can deepen their emotional connection with each other while acquiring a broad perspective and abundant creativity to cope with the globalization era.

Spacious interior. Various works are displayed in the open lobby.

Based on the three themes of "THINK", "SEE", and "DO", the permanent exhibition introduces the works of famous teenage artists, as well as children's paintings and toys from around the world.

This is the exhibition room. Works by famous teenage artists are lined up. (Works will be replaced periodically.)

Moving toward the back, there are three-dimensional works. At the time of the interview, detailed works made of paper and other materials were on permanent display. They are all finely crafted and eye-catching. (The works are changed on a regular basis.)

There is also a train diorama, which is very popular with children! There are many exhibits that even adults will want to take a closer look at.

There is also a permanent exhibition held annually on the second floor of the facility: "Children's Art Brut 2022" (first half of the exhibition), which will run until September 25, 2022. The exhibition provides a venue for children with disabilities to present their works, and includes works by children from special-needs classes and special-needs schools in Okazaki City.

There is also a library where you can find picture books from all over the world. (Books are not allowed to be taken out or lent out.)

In this way, "The World Children's Art Museum in Okazaki" exhibits works and other items that give form to the creativity of children from around the world. From September 10 to November 27, 2022, "BRIO and Toys from Around the World" will also be on display! This is a special exhibition of BRIO, which is very popular among children, and is a must-see!

There is also a spacious outdoor park where parents and children can enjoy a picnic on sunny days. There is also fun playground equipment.

Let's make the one and only original item in the world!

The adjacent "Parent-Child Modeling Center" is also very popular with children and adults alike! There are 4 hands-on classes: painting class, clay class, handicraft class, and EB class. It is popular because you can easily make various items. We actually experienced "EB classroom"!

The "EB Classroom" refers to a class in which participants draw pictures on special plaster substrates or unglazed ceramics and hand them to the staff, who apply a resin material on top and bake the pictures with an electronic beam of light. Not only does the material become hard and durable, but the painting also becomes more colorful.

You can choose from a variety of items such as brooches, charms, chokers, ocarinas, wind chimes, key chains, etc., and then color them. Our experience this time was earrings.

Here is a sample. You can choose a heart, a droplet, or any other shape you like. Purchase a ticket from the vending machine and give it to the staff at the reception desk to start the process!

We tried making earrings in the shape of drops! We drew while looking at a sample. There were many colored pencils, pens, and paints on the table.

First, draw a draft with a pen to make the same shade. Do you prefer pens or colored pencils?

Being not sure about it we decided to draft with colored pencils. Is it little too thin...?

Tried paint! The paints looked so good that we decided to make them with paint.

While mixing light blue and blue.

Now it's time to try! It turned out to be a good color!

Looking at a sample, we are serious! It's wonderful to have time to get lost in! We felt as if we had returned to our childhood. Even adults can enjoy making artwork.

Make the other one colorful! We make it while making full use of pens and paints. It is easy for anyone to make.

Completed! When you have finished painting, bring it to the reception. Leave it to the staff from here! Wait about 30 minutes before applying a special resin agent and baking with an electric beam.

Here are the actual finished earings. The earrings are now shiny and glossy!

There are not only earrings, but also pierced earrings, so it's good to be able to make your own design. The charm of the parent-child modeling center is that both children and adults can enjoy it.

There are also various other hands-on classes. This is the craft class. You can make cute animal dolls such as giraffes and rabbits out of urethane.

In the clay class, you can make full-fledged pottery works such as vases and bowls from simple clay crafts.

In the "painting class," visitors can create their own personalized batches, use their paintings as underlays for lami-art, or dye art to print on handbags and other items.

The World Children's Art Museum in Okazaki" is a facility where you can enjoy all day long, even on a sunny day or when it rains. You can enjoy from the works of children from all over the world to making your own creative works.
