Table of Contents
This time, I would like to introduce "moricafe -brunch&coffee-" in Moriyama Ward, which is located in the northeastern part of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, where lush nature remains.
It is located in a very peaceful location on the outskirts of the city, close to the city's highest peak, Mt. Higashitaniyama, Togokusan Fruits Park, and Aichi Prefectural Forest Park. Shidami Kofun Tumulus Group is located around the shop, and Okute Pond is in front of it, and the cafe is in harmony with the surrounding nature.
(hereinafter referred to as Mori Cafe)
The cafe is white in color, with a simple, modern look that gives it a nostalgic appearance, somewhat like a school.
We asked the owner, Mr. Morita, about the reason for opening the store and what he is particular about.
-How long have you been in the cafe?
Mr. Morita:"It's been eight years since I started in 2011. We started in Nishi Ward and moved to this location in Moriyama Ward in 2017."
-Why did you open your first shop?
Mr. Morita: "Originally, I was working on the interior design of a store. I started to think that I wanted to open a store someday, and a vacancy appeared at a good property in Nishi Ward. I decided to give it a try for the first time.”
-Why did you move to this location?
Mr. Morita:“After a while, I started dreaming of opening a cafe in a place with a nice view like Karuizawa or Shonan."
The bright interior of the restaurant features a white and light blue interior with a simple yet natural warmth. The furniture and lighting are also carefully selected and playful.
-Do you have a concept or image?
Mr. Morita:“Well, I thought about simplicity first. I also thought about making it look like Scandinavia. I was very particular about how to take advantage of the view of this pond.
-There are table seats and counter seats, but most of the seats offer a view of Okute Pond and the surrounding nature beyond the window.
Mr. Morita:"I was particular about the counter seats where you can enjoy the scenery from the largest window and the seats behind it. I paid particular attention to the chairs. I wanted to make our customers feel as comfortable as possible. Specifically, we chose chairs made in Japan by a company called Miyazaki Chair."
It is such a luxury to be able to relax in a comfortable chair with a large window and watch the sky change color daily and the surface of the pond reflecting it. And I bet the sunsets are beautiful, too.
