Riverport Park Minokamo

First of all, we would like to introduce “River Port Park Minokamo”.

About 1 hour by car from Nagoya. “River Port Park Minokamo” is located along the Kiso River in Minokamo City, Gifu Prefecture. A park where you can enjoy the outdoors on the banks of the Kiso River, based on the concept of "outdoors in the city".

Riverport Park Minokamo

The spacious park is divided into a BBQ area where you can enjoy empty-handed, a lawn area where you can run around to your heart's content, and a forest area rich in nature. At the Kiso River, you can try authentic river activities such as rafting and SUP.

There is also a cafe in the visitor house where you can enjoy exquisite pizza. It is a spot where you can spend the whole day relaxing.

River Port Park Minokamo is located at a river crossing that used to be called "Ota no Watashi" and developed as a hub for transportation. The shrine from that time still exists in the park.

What is SUP?

"SUP" is an abbreviation of "Stand Up Paddleboard". As the name suggests, this is a water activity where you stand on a large board and paddle along the surface of the water.

SUP uses a large board with buoyancy, so it is easy to balance and even beginners can easily challenge it. It is gaining popularity as an activity that anyone can easily enjoy regardless of gender or age.

In addition, you can expect an exercise effect because you can train your whole body's sense of balance and experience.

Receive a wetsuit that fits your body size and change clothes in the changing room. The locker key will be kept by the staff, so let's leave all the mobile phones and accessories.

The tour takes 130 minutes, so don't forget to use the restroom and stay hydrated!

This time it's the middle of summer, so instead of wearing a wetsuit, we decided to wear a swimsuit and a rash guard. After changing clothes, you will receive a life jacket and a helmet. Make sure to check the safety thoroughly to make sure there are no deficiencies.

On the helmets, we tape our nicknames during the tour. This time, Osaki, Suzu, and Haruko will take on the challenge.

Hide-san, the guide who guided us this time. thank you!

We will also adjust the paddles before departure. Adjust the length according to your height.

Let's go to the Kiso River!

When you see it up close, it's more powerful than you can imagine. The Kiso River is a first-class river in the mainstream of the Kiso River system that flows from Nagano Prefecture through Gifu Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, and Mie Prefecture to Ise Bay. It is said that the total length is 229 km.

Let's get used to the water first!

First of all, we went into the river to check the water temperature. Let's get used to the water by entering the river.

It's cold at first, but once you get used to it, it feels cool!

Safety explanation & lecture

First of all, we will receive a safety explanation and a lecture. In order to enjoy playing, it is essential to be careful not to get injured or have an accident.

You will receive a lecture on how to ride a Sup, how to steer a ship, and what to do when you fall.

Let's go to the water! It's the first time for all three of us to try sup, so we're excited.

The first step is to practice maneuvering!

Start by practicing rowing while sitting, which gives you the most stability.

When we actually got on the boards, we were relieved that it was more stable than we had imagined.

Practice rowing forward and rowing backward, and gradually get used to maneuvering the board.

I had some time to enjoy the scenery.

Take a stroll on the smooth surface of the water. Blessed with good weather, the scenery is very good.

"Let's stand on the board," said Hide.

Will we be able to stand cool like Hide?

Using the paddle...!

It is many times more difficult to balance than when sitting ...... a little unstable, but we managed to stand up on the board.

Osaki, you are very good!

Start playing in the river!

We've gotten used to maneuvering the board, so it's finally time to start playing in the river.

First of all, we decided to play tag. The it is Hide. Run away everyone!

Hide, you're too fast. Gradually increase the speed.

He caught up with us in no time. If you get touched by the board, you are out!

The touch was so strong that she went straight into the river with a thud.

The board is connected to the waist belt, so you don't have to worry about it being swept away.

Next, try the yoga tree pose!

This seems to be forging a sense of balance.

“I will try,” said Osaki.

This one is also bobbing in the river.

We gradually got used to getting wet in the river.

We decided to take it to another level and try the three-point  handstand.

Hide-san, that's a splendid three-point handstand.

Cheers of "Oh~~~~~~!!!" echoed through the Kiso River.

Suzu-san also tried, but without success.

Next is to try hand-pushing sumo! !

The two of them dove into the river in good humor.

After that, the game was played many times.

There are no rules on how to play in the river. The staff will suggest how to play according to the wishes of the participants. (Don't worry, there are also ways to play without getting wet.)

The 70 minute tour is about to end. good job for today~!

This time, we tried the easy-to-enjoy "SUP experience'', but there is also "SUP cruising'' where you can go down the river with a SUP.

At River Port Park Minokamo, you can experience various river activities according to your age and skills, such as the "Kiso River Adventure" where you can go down the river on a rafting boat, and the "Kids Adventure" where you can try full-scale river activities and river descents from the age of 3.
