I want to enjoy the sea! But I'm not good at swimming... For such people, I would definitely recommend "sea kayaking".
We visited "Sunny Coast Kayaks" in Minami-Ise town Town, Mie Prefecture. Here, you can enjoy sea kayaking in the calm waters of Gokasho Bay. Sea kayaking is a type of kayaking, especially those that are carried out in the sea. It is characterized by excellent safety and maneuverability, and can be operated with confidence even for the first time.
This time, we will challenge "Kayak half-day experience tour (¥ 6,500 / person)".
The person who guided us this time was Mr. Yoichi Motohashi, who moved from Saitama because he was attracted to the sea of Minami-Ise town.
Before starting the tour, let me introduce you to Minami-Ise town.
"Minami Minami-Ise town" is located in the southeastern part of Mie Prefecture, next to Oise-san (Ise Jingu). It takes about 2 hours by car from Nagoya. More than half of the town is located in Ise-Shima National Park, with wonderful scenery from the ria coast and untouched nature from Gokasho Bay to Kowaura Bay.
Gokasho Bay, where we will experience sea kayaking this time, is an area where the sea is particularly calm even in Minami-Ise town. There are many small coves where you can enjoy the scenery of each season.
First, practice how to paddle in a land class
After changing clothes and wearing a life jacket, you will practice how to paddle on land.
Incidentally, the difference between a "kayak" and a "canoe" is the shape of the paddles. A kayak uses a "double-bladed paddle" with a water scraper on both sides. This allows the kayak to proceed as if strolling on the surface of the water.
Put your luggage in this waterproof bag and enter the kayak. Put things you don't want to get wet, such as smartphones and cameras!
It's time to start the tour!
The kayak is more stable than you can imagine, and by synchronizing your breath, you can smoothly move on the surface of the water. Aiming for an uninhabited beach, head south.
The sea is calm and very comfortable. What surprised me was that there were almost no ships coming and going. This is one of the reasons why sea kayaking in Gokasho Bay can be done with peace of mind.
