TSUBURAYA EXHIBITION 2023 -"Power of Imagination" Tsuburaya Productions and Ultraman- at Matsuzakaya Art Museum

From August 5th to September 24th, 2023,TSUBURAYA EXHIBITION 2023 -"Power of Imagination" Tsuburaya Productions and Ultraman- is being held at the Matsuzakaya Museum of Art in Nagoya!

Tsuburaya Productions celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. In this exhibition, many valuable materials such as character suits, dioramas, props, design drawings, artworks, etc.

Here is a report on the opening event & preview!

At the entrance, successive ultra heroes welcome you!

In the introduction, Tsuburaya Productions founder Eiji Tsuburaya and the theme of this event, "The Power of Imagination," are introduced, along with the history of special effects and the episode of the birth of the Ultraman series.

Ultraman Taro Character Suit

Successive character suits such as "Ultraman", "Ultra Seven", and "Taro Suit" are also displayed along with the introduction of each character.

It was impressive that the suits differed depending on the time of production, such as type A, type B, and type C. (*The type notation is not the official designation, but the classification notation in this exhibition)

In the "Ultra Seven" corner, there was a moving exhibit of the "Space Monster Elecking" with lights. It was very impressive!

In the following corner, along with the introduction of the "M78 Nebula: The Land of Light," a large gathering of characters from the Showa Ultraman series, including Ultraman 80 (Eidi), Ultraman Leo, Ultraman Taro, Ultraman A (Ace), Ultraman Jack, and Zoffy!

In the corner introducing the Heisei Ultraman series, dioramas of "Ultraman Tiga", "Ultraman Dyna" and "Ultraman Gaia SV" are displayed.

Also, the design drawing of the new form of "Ultraman Gaia" "Ultraman Gaia Super Supreme Version" ("Ultraman Gaia SSV") announced the other day has been released for the first time, so please check it out.

There is also an introduction corner for the movie version "Gridman Universe" released in March this year! Along with Gridman (Universe Fighter), a number of setting images used in production are exhibited.

There is also a corner where visitors can call up a 3DCG "Metron Alien" in AR to take photos of the "Sunset Showdown" scene!

At the merchandising corner, goods exclusive to the Nagoya venue will be sold!

There will also be limited-edition art goods drawn exclusively for this exhibition by artists selected by Mangart Beams (Beams Co., Ltd.).

A "giant color timer" appeared!

During the period, a "giant color timer" measuring 3.6 meters in height and 4 meters in width will be installed on the first floor of Matsuzakaya's South Building, facing Otsu-dori Avenue.

While the blue light is on, the sound of Ultraman's BGM, monster appearance, Ultraman appearance, and fighting scenes will be played, and when the red light is on, the sound of the "color timer" will be played. (All 5 types of production, 3 minutes in total)
