Zoumeshiya is a popular restaurant located in Nishio City, Aichi. In September 2017, “Kissa Zoumeshi” opened in Kameshima, Nagoya as the second store. Although it is located 15 minutes on foot from Nagoya Station, it is a quiet and calm area with Noritake Garden nearby.

The restaurant used to be an old-fashioned coffee shop, and it is charming in its atmosphere. The space that combines retro and stylish design with a modern look makes one's heart dance. The kitchen in the back is exactly as it was in those days. The rounded counter is a reminder of the old days.
Going to the back of the restaurant, you will find a row of tables. The large number of seats is one of the features of Kissa Zoumeshi. The tables are all original! The tables are made of various types of wood, and the sofas are comfortable to sit on.
There is also a spacious tatami room in the back of the restaurant. The owner said, "I want more people to come here with their children. We want more tatami rooms because we are near Nagoya Station!" and so the tatami room was opened. The image of a coffee shop is that it is difficult to take small children with you, but at this restaurant, there is no need to worry about that at all! The tatami room is equipped with children's chairs and toys, making it a great space for families with children.
Origin of the store name "Zoumeshi"
The name "Zoumeshi" was invented about seven years ago when Mr. Imai, the third generation owner of the miso shop "Imai Brewery" who is also the owner, started a mobile miso shop. When he asked his then 4-year-old son, "What kind of name do you want for your store? He immediately responded, "Zoumeshiya"! He fell in love with the catchy word at first sight and started his mobile sales business as "Zoumeshiya".
Starting out as a small local marché, they continued to offer dishes using miso and other ingredients at the Higashibetsuin morning market in Nagoya and other locations, gradually gaining a growing number of repeat customers. Eventually, the mobile store became so popular that people had to wait in line to get in! In February 2015, the shop opened in Nishio City, the owner's hometown, as "Zoumeshiya" after receiving numerous requests to open a physical store.
"I want to convey the charm of Zoumeshiya to more people"! With that in mind, the second shop, Kissa Zoumeshi, opened. Compared to the first store, they have expanded the cafe menu such as sweets and drinks so that you can eat the cafe menu at any time. It is supported by a wide range of age groups, from small children to local elderly people.
Thoughts on miso at Imai Jozo
Imai Jozo is a small miso shop located in Kira-cho, Nishimikawa, Aichi. From preparation to storage, most of the work is done by hand.
Imai Jozo's soybean miso is an additive-free, unheated raw miso that uses domestically produced soybeans and domestically produced salt. There are four types of miso, which is carefully aged in wooden barrels: ground red miso, tsubu (grains), white miso, and mixed miso. You can also purchase 4 types of miso at Kissa Zoumeshi. (410 yen each)
Also pay attention to small products!
One of the charms of Kissa Zoumeshi is “exclusive products”. They also pay attention to details such as the logo of the store name and chopstick rests with cute illustrations.
Even the paper napkins have the logo! At first glance, it looks like an ordinary paper napkin, but when you pick it up, you will be surprised. It is a shop that values the discovery and joy of “There was an elephant here too!”
Speaking of coffee shops, matches. Of course, the match also has an elephant logo, and illustrations of cream soda and custard pudding! You will want to collect them.
This is an original crew that incorporates the first generation elephant. I never thought that even this seasoning was decorated with an elephant! The cuteness that makes you want to take a picture is also a point.
On the outside, you can find a special menu using food samples, which was often used in cafes and restaurants in the past, in the case! It seems that there are people who stop and say, "Nostalgic!." The first elephant is also under the case. You will want to search every nook and cranny as if you are on a treasure hunt.
