Play and learn! SEA LIFE Nagoya, an aquarium surrounded by LEGO blocks

The aquarium "SEA LIFE Nagoya" joined Legoland Resort Japan as a new facility in April 2018.

SEA LIFE opened in Scotland in 1979. It is the world's largest aquarium brand in more than 50 countries around the world. "SEA LIFE Nagoya" was created under the theme that children are naturally interested in the sea, and visitors can enjoy the collaboration of sea creatures and Lego. It's an aquarium where you can “see, touch, and learn” mainly targeting for children aged 5 to 12.

What kind of aquarium is it? Let's go now!

SEA LIFE NAGOYA

The location is right in front of Legoland Japan! It takes about an hour, so you can enjoy it on the same day as Legoland.

Become a Junior Ranger and explore the world of the sea!
"Ranger Mission Pack"

If you want to enjoy SEA LIFE Nagoya even more, we recommend purchasing the Ranger Mission Pack (¥500)!

Enclosed in the pack are an activity notebook, pencil, size chart, and a magnifying glass. These tools will be used to complete the missions.

The aquarium houses 3,500 creatures of about 150 species.

All of the aquarium exhibits with the theme of "see, touch, and learn" are full of ideas for learning. In addition, staff members called "SEA LIFE Rangers" will provide explanations, so you can learn in more detail.

The Kiso River, an area unique to Aichi

The museum is divided into 11 areas with different themes. We will pick up a few and introduce them here.

First, head to the Kiso River, an area unique to Aichi that is inspired by the clear waters of the Kiso River. The cherry blossom-themed exhibition is an area that can only be found in Japan.

We soon found the mission!

The triangular mark is a mark for close observation. Let's observe using the magnifying glass in the pack. After observing, check the Activity Note.

Let's touch the creatures! "The Rockpools"

Next is the "Rockpools".

In this area, you can actually touch starfish and sea anemones.

We found another mission here!

"Let's check the leg of a starfish"

Which do you all think are the legs of a starfish?

The starfish turned inside out at nice timing.

Actually, the long, white things on the back of the starfish are its legs! They use these legs to cling to slippery rocks and grab food.

These detailed explanations are carefully explained by the SEA LIFE Rangers.

Exchange cards with SEA LIFE Rangers!

If you come across a SEA LIFE Ranger in the aquarium, be sure to say, "I'm ◯◯, a Junior Ranger."

You can get a "Ranger Card" like this! Interacting with these staff members is a unique way to enjoy Sea Life.

Let's explore as if we were diving underwater "Minato"

Next is the "Minato" area, where the creatures that live under the harbor bridge are on display.

SEA LIFE's aquarium is designed to be easy to see from a low position, in line with children's eye level. This allows observation from various angles.

Let's dive through the tunnel "Sea of Coral Reefs"

"Coral reef sea" where you can see fish living in coral reefs. There are many colorful creatures such as clownfish, sea anemones, and puffer fish.

There is an aquarium tunnel in this area. Kids will definitely enjoy it! Feel like you're diving in the ocean and explore underwater.

"Stingray Bay" to learn about stingray ecology

Stingray Bay is a tropical sea where various kinds of rays live.

There is also a space where you can sit and observe the stingrays at your leisure. It is just in the middle of the course, so take a breather and observe the stingrays at a leisurely pace.

There is also a show where the SEA LIFE Ranger will teach you the secrets of stingrays once every 30 minutes.

There was just meal time for a stingray on this day,!

There are other exciting areas such as "Jellyfish Sea" and "Sunken Ship".

There are also very realistic photo spots!

Feel like Urashima Taro and go to the world of the sea "Ryugu Castle"

SEA LIFE NAGOYA

Next is "Ryugu Castle".

It is the largest aquarium tunnel in SEA LIFE Nagoya. You can meet large creatures such as sharks and sea turtles. It is a very relaxing space.

As for Ryugu Castle, there is also a statue of Urashima Taro! (He was wearing a shell mask)

"Amazing creation" where creatures drawn by yourself start swimming

"Amazing Creation" is very popular with children.

Choose your favorite creature, color it freely, and it will start swimming in the screen in front of you.

You can even feed the creatures on the screen!

Shopping at the gift store!

Finally, shopping at the gift store! There are also items that you can only get at SEA LIFE, not at Legoland. (It is also possible to use only the gift shop)

If you look closely at the display, you will see plastic bottle lids! The store is designed to resemble drifted objects from the ocean. It is a good opportunity to think about the environmental problems of the sea.

This time we introduced "SEA LIFE Nagoya". It is an aquarium that is different from other aquariums, where you can truly "see, touch, and learn".

Please visit together with "LEGOLAND Japan" and "LEGOLAND Japan Hotel"!
