Permanent exhibition where you can enjoy goldfish art “ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM GINZA”, Tokyo

I went to "ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM GINZA" which opened in Ginza Mitsukoshi, Tokyo. This is a permanent exhibition where you can enjoy goldfish art.

You can enjoy it indoors, so it's perfect for going out on hot or rainy days! I would like to report with plenty of photos.

What is "ART AQUARIUM"?

"ART AQUARIUM" is an exhibition of goldfish art that displays beautifully dancing goldfish in an aquarium with a unique design, with original effects of light, sound, and scent. So far, they have held about 40 exhibitions in Japan and overseas.

In 2020, the “ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM” opened in Nihonbashi, Tokyo as a permanent exhibition. The ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM GINZA has opened on the 8th floor of the Ginza Mitsukoshi New Building after renovations.

The theme is "Hyakka Ryoran ~ Evolving Art ~"

The venue is the 8th floor area of Ginza Mitsukoshi. Take the escalator down from the 9th floor and you will see the entrance noren.

Tickets are available on the day, but advance purchase is recommended as they may be sold out!

Area 1: Quiet Kanga

Ginza Ten Thousand Lanterns

This year's theme is "Hyakka Ryoran ~ Evolving Art ~". The venue consists of 7 areas, and art works are installed according to the concept of each area.

Goldfish Corridor

The entrance to the Art Aquarium is inspired by the ancient capital of Nara. The new work "Goldfish Corridor" inspired by the corridors seen in temple architecture is a masterpiece.

I lost track of time looking at the cylindrical aquarium that changed to various colors.

Area 2: Hiji Chomoku

In the "Hiji Chomoku" area, "Kingyo Shushu (Goldfish Collection)", which is the familiar goldfish collection of the ART AQUARIUM is displayed. I was surprised that there are so many different types of goldfish.

Area 3: Rakka Ryusui

In the "Rakka Ryusui (Fallen Flower Flowing Water )" area, a new spatial work "Goldfish Waterfall" created with the image of a quiet waterfall is displayed. In the faint light, many layers of water walls overlap. It's a very cool space.

Area 4: Hyakka Ryoran

In the "Hyakka Ryoran" area, the new goldfish exhibition, which has been developed in a round shape, has been updated to a square shape.

Using 24 tanks with different light levels, they introduce different types of goldfish.

You will be healed by the sight of the goldfish swimming.

The popular work "Origamirium" inspired by origami is also on display. Goldfish folded with origami also decorate the background. It's a fantastic space.

Area 5: Chikurin Shichiken

In "Chikurin Shichiken", "Chochinrium", the first aerial work of Art Aquarium that expresses festival lanterns, and a new spatial work "Bamboo Forest of Goldfish" that makes you think of a quiet bamboo forest are installed. You can enjoy a quiet moment surrounded by the scent of real bamboo.

Area 6: Kacho Fugetsu

One of the appeals of ART AQUARIUM MUSEUM GINZA is that you can enjoy collaborations with artists active in various fields. The first installment is "Flowerrium", which welcomes Mr. Shogo Kariyazaki, a flower arrangement artist.

The collaboration between the beautiful goldfish swimming in the vase-like aquarium and the pretty flowers is a masterpiece.

Finally, go to the museum shop.

There are plenty of collaboration items that can only be found there, such as CHOCOLATIER PALET D'OR's goldfish-shaped chocolate "Chocolat Poisson Rouge" and goldfish cans filled with ITO EN's new tea bags "Kiri-e goldfish tea cans".

The cool "Art Aquarium Museum GINZA" is perfect for a summer outing! Please come and visit!
