Birth of Kabuto Beer Nagoya Branch!
Takayama: "At first, I held a Nayabashi Marche with people from Handa and sold Kabuto Beer for the first time in Nagoya.
All sold out, and I was reminded once again of the greatness of Kabuto Beer. After that, I was selling Kabuto beer at the event, but the number of customers gradually decreased, and I wondered why. Just when I thought that, I realized that the historical background was not being looked at and the focus was only on the beer itself. I thought that it was useless as it was, so I temporarily stopped selling it at the event. ”
Takayama: “That is why I came up with the idea of creating a base for Kabuto Beer in Nagoya. When I consulted with Mr. Baba, thinking that it would be a place to realize the value, he gave me a push, saying, "Okay, let's revive the Nagoya branch!" .
In this way, we decided to revive the Nagoya branch in Nayabashi. Now when they hold an event at Red Brick in Handa, we go to help out, and when we hold an event, people from Handa also comes to support us. Through this place, I would like you to feel what our predecessors made with their thoughts. ”
Passing down Kabuto Beer to future generations
Inside the store, the artworks drawn on the theme of Kabuto Beer are displayed on a monthly basis.
Posters of the time.
Takayama: "Kabuto Beer was also the first of the five major beer companies to do art posters. In order to make it more accessible, they supported the artists by collaborating with them at that time.
The types of posters they create are cool ones aimed at overseas audiences, which I think is very stylish. Because of this historical background, when an artist uses our gallery, we only ask those who have given us permission to create a new work inspired by Kabuto Beer. During the exhibition period, it is exhibited at Twilo, so visitors can see an exhibition of this artist's work.
I hope we can support contemporary artists just as Kabuto Beer has supported the artists of the time. That way, the artists seem to be having fun! It's nice to hear on social networking sites that someone has painted a picture of the historic Kabuto's Beer. I hope this place will be a catalyst for preserving Kabuto beer for future generations."
