There are only a few days left this year! Many of you may be planning to go out during the year-end and New Year's holidays.
Fukuoka is one of the places I personally visited many times this year. We will introduce Fukuoka's souvenirs, which are full of delicious things. We will narrow down the items that you can buy at the airport, so please refer to them when shopping on your way home.

Speaking of Hakata souvenirs, this is it! Meigetsudo "Hakata Torimon"

Hakata Torimon

One of the most popular souvenirs of Fukuoka is Meigetsudo's "Torimon". It has won the Monde Selection gold medal for 22 consecutive years. This manju combines the traditional Japanese confectionery of Hakata with ingredients from Western confectionery, creating a blend of Japanese and Western styles.

The white bean paste, carefully kneaded with high-quality ingredients, is moist and delicious, and melts on the tongue. The best-before date is about 3 to 4 weeks at room temperature. 5, 6, 8, 12, and even the largest pack of 40 pieces are available, so you can choose according to the number of people.

A classic but not to be missed! Yamaguchi Aburaya Fukutaro “Menbei”

Menbei

Menbei

"Menbei" spread by word of mouth. It was born out of the desire for more people to enjoy mentaiko (spicy pollack roe), which is a raw food, and is made by kneading mentaiko, squid, octopus, and other seafood into the rice cracker, so the more you chew, the more delicious the taste is.

The expiration date is 180 days from the date of manufacture. Each bag contains 2 pieces of Menbei, and there are small bags containing 2 bags to 16 bags.

Kyushu soy sauce flavor is also recommended!

Menbei

Menbei

In addition to the original Menbei, there are also flavored shrimp, mayonnaise, spicy, onion, green onion, and bonito varieties. Among them, Kyushu Soy Sauce is characterized by its sweetness, and its savory aroma whets the appetite. It is also rich in dashi and other umami flavors, so why not try something different from the usual?

Kurume Kurobo Honpo is a long-established black stick shop founded in 1920. Among the carefully selected Kurobo that are pickled in honey one by one by hand, the one we recommend is "Fuku Daikoku".

There is no doubt that you will be captivated by the soft and cake-like Kurobo (black stick snack soaked in brown sugar syrup) that overturns the concept of Kurobo. How about picking up a nostalgic “Fuku Daikoku” that tastes like Japanese sweets or cakes as a souvenir?
The expiration date is 45 days from the date of manufacture. Sold in packs of 8 pieces per bag.

Plum scented hijiki

Plum scented hijiki

Hijiki (dark edible seaweed), crunchy plum, and white sesame are mixed together to create a moist furikake (dried food sprinkled over rice) called “Umenoka Hijiki.” The moderate sourness of plum aroma and sesame flavor goes well with rice. “Umenoka Hijiki” is delicious whether you put it on rice, ochazuke (rice with soup), or mix it with tamagoyaki (egg roll).
