"Gozaisho Ropeway" where you can see the cityscape of Yokkaichi and Nagoya

Gozaisho Ropeway

If you go to Komono Town, you can't miss the Gozaisho Ropeway.

The Gozaisho Ropeway connects Yunoyama Onsen in Mie Prefecture to Mt. Gozaisho (1,212 m) in the Suzuka Mountains. The ropeway takes visitors up to the 1,180-meter-high Yamagami Koen Station in 12 minutes!

If you are going by car, please be aware that even if there is no ice or snow, you will need to prepare winter tires and chains during the winter season (December to March).

Mt. GozaishoJapanese serows inhabit Mt. Gozaisho, so if you are lucky, you may be able to meet a wild Japanese serow.

Choyodai Hiroba is a popular observation deck located just off the ropeway. With an elevation of 1,200 meters, a spectacular view of the city of Yokkaichi and Ise Bay spreads out before your eyes.

At the panoramic restaurant "Natur", you can enjoy the famous Gozaisho Curry Udon. Please check it out together with the ropeway.

The only Ropeway Museum in Japan

Mt. Gozaisho

On the 3rd floor of Sanjo Koen Station, there is the only Ropeway Museum in Japan. This is an exhibition facility where you can learn about the structure and history of the ropeway.

You will be able to see valuable materials that are rarely seen, such as the two types of ropes that support the gondolas and the anemometer used to protect the safety of the passengers. Please visit the museum when you visit the Gozaisho Ropeway.

Yunoyama Onsen specialty "Oishiyaki"

Mt. Gozaisho

After enjoying the ropeway, please go to "Kirakudo" near the platform. Here, you can enjoy Yunoyama's specialty "Oishiyaki". The owner kneads the ingredients in hot spring water, then kneads sesame seeds, Japanese pepper, and starch syrup into the flour, then carefully bakes them one by one.

The simple and relaxing taste will make your hands go fast. There seems to be no end to orders from all over the country, and it is one of the specialties that you should definitely try when you visit Yunoyama.

The last place we would like to introduce is “nest,” a hideaway cafe for adults that has become popular through word of mouth, even though it is located in the mountains.
