Enjoy the vehicles of yesteryear!

Not only the Shinkansen, but also many vehicles from the past are on display, which is a big attraction.

This is the interior of a "Hodgepodge 6005 type steam railmoter," which was used on local lines from the end of the Meiji period. A steam railmorter is a vehicle equipped with a running gear similar to that of a steam locomotive on one side of the body, and has both locomotive and passenger car functions integrated into one car to enable single-car operation.

Looking at the restored car interior, we realized why the word "leather" (kawa) is used for train "suspension leather" (tsuri-kawa). Nowadays, synthetic resin is used, but back then, leather was really used.

That's why it's called "Tsuri-kawa". A net shelf (ami-dana) is also a shelf (tana) for which nets (ami) were used. We learned for the first time the meaning of words we had been using without question.

Understanding how it works!
Superconducting Maglev Room & Mini Theater

The "Superconducting Maglev" is said to levitate and travel from the ground. Do you know why it's floating? Here, you can learn about such questions in a very easy-to-understand manner with models and hands-on equipment, such as the principles of levitation and running.

In the mini-theater, visitors can simulate the world of 500 km/h. We actually experienced it and were very impressed to feel the speed beyond our imagination.

In the near future, it will be possible to travel between Shinagawa and Nagoya in 40 minutes, so an amazing era will come.

"Conventional train simulator" where you can enjoy the feeling of a driver / conductor

Next, we will try the "Conventional Line Simulator". Here, in addition to eight conventional train driving simulators (four each of Series 211 and 313 type), there is also a conductor simulator for the latest full-scale "Series 313" train.

*Charges apply (driving simulator 1 time (10 minutes) for  100 yen, conductor simulator 1 time (15 minutes) for 500 yen)

*Conventional train simulator "Conductor" is on a first-come, first-served basis or a lottery system.
*Conventional train simulator "driving" is on a first-come, first-served basis.

This time, we tried the driving simulator! Normally, the experience is in GG video, but since it was a special open day, we were able to experience it in a more realistic live-action version.

While watching the scenery on the monitor, we used the operation console to move the car.

The images are so realistic that you can feel like you are in the real world. It was quite exciting and thrilling to learn the basic operation from the staff.

It's surprisingly difficult, even though all you have to do is move two levers! We enjoyed it more than we imagined.

Please try it.

In addition to conventional trains, you can also experience driving the Shinkansen simulator "N700".

*Driving experience is on a first-come-first-served basis or a lottery system.
