Mandarin orange picking at an orchard overlooking Gokasho Bay
After making the juice, it's finally time to pick oranges!
In the orchard of Naize Shizen Mura, there were many mandarin oranges that the grandmother had grown with great care. Normally mandarin orange fields are cultivated gradually using slopes, but Naize Shizen Mura has stable footing, so everyone from small children to people in wheelchairs can enjoy it!
Mr. Yamaide, the village chief, taught us the points of harvesting. First, look for overgrown branches. It is said that the dark orange mandarin oranges on the tip of the branches are sweet and delicious.
Let's start orange picking all-you-can-eat oranges! Please put your souvenirs in this basket.
At first, it was a struggle to find the right oranges. Based on the advice of the village head and grandmother, we looked for oranges that were ready to be harvested.
It was so exciting when we find oranges look so delicious!
There are benches in the farm, so you can enjoy the harvested oranges while taking a break.
Here, the village chief gave us one point advice! If you cut the mandarin orange into quarters, you can easily peel off the skin and eat it. You can use this at home too!
Since the chief said "You can put as much as you can hold in one hand," we harvested a lot. It is said that the taste of mandarin oranges becomes more mellow after about a week than when they are freshly harvested. I can't wait until it's ready to eat.
