[Nagoya] Nagono Campus, an Incubation Facility for the Next 100 Years

8 minutes walk from Nagoya Station. "Nagono Campus" was created by renovating the former Nagoya Elementary School, which was closed. It is an incubation facility with shared offices and coworking spaces. It started in October 2019 as a training base for entrepreneurs and ventures.

Incubation facilities are facilities that provide both hard and soft support to venture companies taking a new step forward. At the Nagono Campus, we also provide support such as entrepreneurship consultations in collaboration with the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In addition, the gymnasium, ground, and school lunch room have been renovated into a café restaurant called “yoake”. It is a place for local exchanges where not only office workers but also the general public can casually visit.

The location is excellent as it is an 8-minute walk from Nagoya Station's Sakura-dori Exit. It is easy to use as a coworking space drop-in (use for one day) and as a meeting space.

Endoji Shopping Street

The "Endoji Shopping Street", which is lined with attractive shops, is also nearby.

A school that nurtures the next 100 years

Mr. Keigo Ito, Towa Real Estate Co., Ltd.

This time, Mr. Ito from Towa Real Estate Co., Ltd. guided us through the Nagoya Campus.

– What kind of facility is the “Nago Campus”?

Mr. Ito: "The concept is 'open, mix, and create a school that will nurture the next 100 years.' We aim to create new values for the next 100 years while weaving the history of Nagono Elementary School, which was founded in 1909 and has a history of over 100 years.

In addition to Towa Real Estate Co., Ltd., Pasona JOB HUB Co., Ltd. (event planning, community formation), R-pro Co., Ltd. (design and crowdfunding), and Tongali Project (entrepreneur development project by 10 universities in the Tokai region) participate and operate. doing.

The Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also involved in the operation of the program, providing support such as consultation for starting a business and assistance in applying for subsidies. In addition, many venture companies with new ideas and local companies considering co-creation with students participate in the program.

By creating a network that combines the strengths of venture companies, local companies, universities, and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce, it is a place to create a base for creating new things and things. ”

The feature of “Nagono Campus” is that it is not just an office space in a renovated elementary school, but an “incubation facility”.

– What specific services and support do you provide?

Ms. Ito: "Women known as community managers are stationed at the facility and serve as a hub to connect residents with each other. Also, the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a satellite office here, so this facility is a one-stop shop for services such as grant applications and consultations on starting a business.

We also hold networking events where you can expand your network and seminars that give you business tips.

Corporate registration is also possible, so you can use the Nagoya Campus address as your mailing address and registered address. ”

We were actually shown around the facility.

“Nagono Campus” facility report

A playful coworking space

It was originally a staff room.

An open kitchen is installed and a free drink system

The co-working space "HOME ROOM" is located just inside the entrance on the first floor.

This is a free-address zone where you can freely choose your seat according to your work style and mood. You can use it as a place for work, meetings, and business negotiations. Of course, Wi-Fi is also available!

Playfulness is everywhere, such as tables and chairs that make use of vaulting boxes, and lamp shades that use drum toms!

If you want to concentrate on your work, we recommend the "Concentration Booth"!

It is also possible to register as a corporation at "Nagono Campus". It is said that many people are using it enough to increase the number of posts.

The "town bulletin board" near the entrance introduced stores recommended by residents. I am very interested in these stores!

The interior of the building, which was renovated to retain the character of the former Nagono Elementary School, is filled with a sense of nostalgia. By returning to the childhood spirit, unique ideas are likely to be born.

Office that utilizes the classroom

The 2nd and 3rd floors are lined with offices for companies.

The "Private Office" is a private office space with the feel of an elementary school classroom. Twenty-six companies, mainly venture companies, have taken up occupancy (currently the rooms are full and there is a waiting list).

shared office

shared office

The "shared office," which utilizes a former arts and crafts room and multipurpose room, is a fixed seating area that can be used by one or more people, and is available 24 hours a day.

Conference rooms and gymnasiums open to the public

"Nagono Campus" is not only for residents, but also has a space that can be used by the general public!

The "Conference Room" can be used for around 12 to 30 people by utilizing the music room. It can be used for various seminars, study sessions, and meetings. Equipped with monitors and Wi-Fi, the rooms can be used from one hour, making them easy to use for small meetings!

gym

The gymnasium can also be used for exhibitions, seminars, and sports on an hourly basis. How about enjoying sports in a nostalgic atmosphere? !

ground

You can even rent the ground!

Ms. Sachiko Ukai, Pinovation Co., Ltd.

Ms. Sachiko Ukai, Pinovation Co., Ltd.

We interviewed people who actually use the "Nagono Campus".

- What is the appeal of "Nagono Campus?"

Ms. Ukai: "Startup companies tend to be small, but the appeal is that you can interact with many people. We try out each other's services and products, and even though we are not from the same company, it feels like we have a lot of friends.

I also like the homey atmosphere that the school has always been. I think this looseness is good. It's easy to ask for advice and talk about things other than work, which I feel is the charm of this place."

Mr. Ryo Kurakata, KUROFUNE Co., Ltd.

– Please tell us the reason why you decided to move in.

Mr. Kurakata: "Before, I used a private office, so I didn't have any communication with other users. I wanted to interact with venture companies, so I moved to Nagono Campus."

– How do you feel about moving in?

Mr. Kurakata: "I feel that there is a great deal of interaction. For example, when we asked the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry if we could connect with a local bank, they introduced us to a bank and we were able to conclude a business matching agreement. This was also published in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun. It is very reassuring to have an environment where we can consult immediately when we have any problems.

In addition, talking with people from various backgrounds is an opportunity to come up with new ideas. I feel that we have a very good connection. ”

Mr. Daisuke Taguchi, neuet Co., Ltd.

– Please tell us about the attractions of the Nagoya area where the Nagono Campus is located.

Mr. Taguchi: "I feel that the city is a fusion of the old and the new, centering on Endoji shopping district and Shikemichi.

I find the area to be particularly rich in food, with a wide range of restaurants from Italian, French, and Japanese to cafes and eateries.

It is a good lubricant for my time spent at the Nago campus to have a restaurant within walking distance where I can choose "Let's go here today" for various occasions, from walking around town on a day off, to lunch on an ordinary day, to a meal for a special occasion."

"Nagono Campus" has been reborn as a new facility for the next 100 years. I can't wait to see what kind of businesses and services will be born from here.

If you are interested, please try it from the drop-in (1 day plan) first!
