[Gify City] A Small Bakery Loved by Locals "Sakae Pan"

Sakae Pan is a shop that stands along the main street on the south side of JR Gifu Station. This is a long-established bakery that locals have been to at least once. A popular shop that many people visit every day and form a line. We will introduce the charm of Sakae Pan and recommended bread.

A long-established bakery founded in 1947

Sakae Pan is a bakery with a nostalgic appearance and fittings. It has a long history and was founded in 1947. Initially, they started out as a bread wholesaler and then shifted to manufacturing for the home delivery business. After that, they renovated their home and started selling bread for individuals. It is now run by the third generation owner.

A photo of the shop when it was first established. The name "Shokuhin Kogyo" (food industry) is mentioned.

The atmosphere at the entrance is also nostalgic. I even feel compelled to take pictures of it!

Here is a view of the store. The owner, Mr. Takagi, told us, "Nothing has changed since the old days, and I want to keep on baking bread without changing. Many customers from three generations have been coming to this bakery, and it has long been loved by the local people.

In the store, there is also a pop that clearly states the ingredients, making it easy to understand.

A large red bean bun

The specialty of "Sakaepan" is this "Anpan (red bean bun)". Anpan, which has been loved for a long time, is loved as a specialty. The smooth bean paste made from azuki beans produced in Tokachi is attractive.

You can actually see the process of making anpan!

Plenty of black sesame seeds in a chunky dough. The top of it is glazed with whole eggs. The aroma of sesame seeds spreads.

Into the oven; they bake for about 8 minutes.

The big anpan is ready! The kitchen is filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread. Looks delicious……!

They make over 400 anpans a day! It is so popular that customers who come to the store always buy it.

Round and big Anpan-chan (140 yen)

The inside is filled with a lot of bean paste. A dish that perfectly matches the soft dough and moderately sweet bean paste. This bread is a must-buy when you visit.

From sweet bread to meal bread,
Diverse line-up, including bread

There are always 50 types of bread lined up in the store. They have a wide variety of sweet buns, meal breads, and white breads.

“Age Anpan-chan (130 yen)” is popular with Anpan. Anpan made with crispy fried bread baked in oil. You will be attracted to the crispy texture and the warm taste of the bean paste.

A wide variety of side dish breads. It is loved by a wide range of people, and is pleased with its large volume and reasonable price. We are also proud of the side dish bread that is sandwiched in the Koppepan. Yakisoba-kun (190 yen), misokatsu-kun (190 yen), and fried chicken (170 yen) are also popular.

The bakery's classic "Croissant-chan (130 yen)" is also recommended. A bread with a soft and crispy texture and the aroma of butter.

This is "Custard Cinnamon-chan (150 yen)" with plenty of custard. The taste of custard and the scent of cinnamon make it an addictive dish that you can eat as many as you want.

They also have a wide selection of sweet breads. These breads goes well with coffee! With a wide variety of breads like this, you can enjoy finding your favorite bread.

Personally, I recommend "Okonomiyaki-kun (210 yen)" and "Ham and egg-kun (150 yen)". Nostalgic taste and plenty of volume. Just looking at the meal bread section is exciting!

When we asked him about his future plans, he humbly told us, "I want to continue baking bread with an emphasis on making customers happy. This is a community-based bakery that has been loved for a long time. It is nostalgic to visit and satisfying to eat. If you visit Gifu, why not stop by?
