Fukyuen's excellent sweets
Castella Monaka

Established in 1927, Fukyuen is a long-established Japanese sweets shop located in Nakagawa Ward. Immortal Garden is so famous that when it comes to monaka, it is called Immortal Garden.

There are three flavors: orange, matcha, and cinnamon (184 yen each, tax included).

You can't see the red bean paste at first glance, but the red bean paste is firmly sandwiched between them. The strained bean paste monaka and castella cake are exquisite, and once you try it, you will be captivated.

Aoyagi Souhonke's "Bite-sized Uiro"

Aoyagi Sohonke is a famous confectionery representative of Nagoya. The company is famous for its uiro, but we especially recommend the Hitokuchi Nama Uiro. It is not suitable for souvenirs because the expiration date is short, but it is highly recommended for gifts and gifts.

The uiro, which uses materials selected by craftsmen according to the season and the year, is a masterpiece that makes you want to go out of your way to visit.

Bite-size uiro is made by craftsmen using traditional methods, using only rice flour, sugar, and starch, using a yokan rod and a steamer.

Raw uiro

You can purchase one piece (from 130 yen), so how about buying it as a souvenir or as a snack? There are many different types to match the season, and they look very cute, so you will definitely be delighted.

Atsuta Houraiken's "Unagimabushi Norimaki"

Horaiken1,900 yen + tax

Atsuta Horaiken, a famous restaurant in Nagoya, is famous for its hitsumabushi (chopped eel on rice bowl), but many people probably don't know about Unagimabushi Norimaki.

Horaiken

Unagimabushi norimaki can be purchased in Gochiso Paradise on the first basement floor of the Nagoya Matsuzakaya store. The eel is soaked in a secret sauce that has been handed down since its establishment in 1873, and the rice is wrapped in the sauce.

If you pour dashi soup over it, you can enjoy it as ochazuke (rice with soup), just like hitsumabushi!

This makes it easy to bring along as a souvenir, and is sure to please!

Reservation required! Canelé from the pastry shop “slow”

slow

In Izumi, Higashi Ward, Nagoya City, near Takaoka Station on the Sakura-dori Subway Line, there is a pastry shop “slow”. There are cream puffs, simple cut cakes, whole cakes, and baked sweets that make great gifts.

Among them, we recommend the canelé, which is popular for its crunchy and chewy texture. At "slow", we want you to enjoy the difference between sugars, so you can have two types of canelés, “millet sugar” and “brown sugar”.

It seems that it is often sold out, so it is recommended to come early or after making a reservation!
