2F: The Mekong River, an international river that flows between six countries

The total length is about 4,400km. The Mekong River flows from the Tibetan Plateau into the South China Sea. This is an area where you can observe freshwater fish that live in the Mekong River, which flows through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Mekong giant catfish

Among them, the most precious fish is the Mekong giant catfish. It is known as one of the world's largest catfish, with records of catching 3m and 350kg catfish in the past.

You can also see various freshwater fish that live in the Mekong River.

Congo River, the largest river in Africa

Red jewel fish

The total length is 4,667km. The Congo River, which flows through central Africa. This river that flows through the jungle is inhabited by many fish with unique shapes and ecology.

Butterfly fish

A close relative of the aloana, the butterflyfish swims on the surface of the water with its pectoral fins spread wide. In addition to feeding on falling insects and aquatic insects, they also jump to catch insects.

2F: Lake Tanganyika, a huge lake created by the Great Rift Valley

Lake Tanganyika, a huge ancient lake in the east of the African continent. The gigantic lake of 32,000㎢ is about three times the size of Gifu Prefecture. About 300 species of fish inhabit the lakes here, many of which are a wide variety of cichlids.

1F: Amazon River, the world's largest river

Silver arowana

Last but not least is the Amazon River, a mighty river that is said to be 6,500 km long and home to more than 3,000 species of fish. The Amazon River, which begins in the Andes Mountains, crosses the tropical rainforests of South America, and flows into the Atlantic Ocean, boasts the world's largest river basin area and accounts for 20% of the world's river flow.

Pirarucu

Pirarucu, one of the world's largest freshwater fish. Known as a living fossil, it is believed to have remained unchanged for 100 million years. If it is big, it will be 4m.

Electric eel

Another characteristic of the Amazon River is the variety of catfish that can be seen. There are a variety of species, from spindle-shaped species that are suitable for swimming to species that lie flat on the bottom like fallen leaves.
