The Nagara River trip ends and spreads to rivers around the world. This is the area where "A doctor conducts environmental research on the Mekong River while studying freshwater organisms in Japan and Asia." The atmosphere of his laboratory is very much like that of a living person.


Freshwater organisms from Japan, China, and the Korean Peninsula are exhibited here.

Freshwater fish from China's Yangtze River, known as Asia's largest river. Unlike Japanese freshwater fish, the size is dynamic.

2F: The Mekong River, an international river that flows between six countries

The total length is about 4,400km. The Mekong River flows from the Tibetan Plateau into the South China Sea. This is an area where you can observe freshwater fish that live in the Mekong River, which flows through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Among them, the most precious fish is the Mekong giant catfish. It is known as one of the world's largest catfish, with records of catching 3m and 350kg catfish in the past.

Lake Tanganyika, a huge ancient lake in the east of the African continent. The gigantic lake of 32,000㎢ is about three times the size of Gifu Prefecture. About 300 species of fish inhabit the lakes here, many of which are a wide variety of cichlids.
