Nowadays, fashionable coffee stands where you can enjoy authentic coffee are appearing one after another in the city. This time, we will introduce "BLITZ COFFEE", which opened in Nibancho, Gifu City in 2017. This is a coffee stand specializing in take-out, with about 30 kinds of menus, including original blended coffee that is carefully dripped one cup at a time.

The location is near Yanagase in Gifu City, and if you walk a little along the Gifu East-West Street, you will see a shop on the street corner. There are small taverns and houses in the neighborhood, and the cats in the neighborhood are playing around. It is a quiet and calm atmosphere where time flows slowly.

The interior of the cafe is casual and modern. The entrance is open during business hours, so we were able to easily find the restaurant. The atmosphere is easy to enter, and at the time of the interview, the restaurant was visited by a variety of customers, including young females, couples, people working nearby, and locals.

Many of the staff and customers are familiar faces, and when they pass in front of the store, they exchange greetings of "Hello!"

The counter is lined with delicious-looking pies and muffins. The popular foods are freshly baked every day. All of the hoods that you can feel the warmth of handmade are attractive.

This time, we interviewed Mr. Yamada, the manager of "BLITZ COFFEE". I was able to hear a lot of interesting stories, such as the surprising story of how the coffee stand was created!

– Please tell us about the history of the shop and the history of the owner.

Mr. Yamada: "BLITZ COFFEE was created as a food project by the president of an architectural painting company called LIFE Co., Ltd.

When the president was young, he ran a used clothing store here. As he got older, he happened to pass by the house and saw that it was vacant, so he decided to build it as a model store, saying, 'We can build a building like this". The president's wife had worked at the cafe for a long time, so the then manager and his wife took the lead in starting the business."

The person who worked on "BLITZ COFFEE" was the president of a building painting business! Of course, the president also worked on the interior of the cafe. When I listened to the story, I became very curious about the president's personality.

– Why did you decide to start a shop in the form of a coffee stand?

Mr. Yamada:"The president is a person who works on new things from the perspective of the future. At that time, there were no coffee stands in Gifu yet, so we decided to start one first."

Gifu has an image of having a lot of cafes and coffee shops, but you don't see many coffee stands specializing in to-go even in the Tokai area.

The sharp point of view of the president, who always thinks about what will come next, led to the birth of this store.

– Please tell us about your coffee

Mr. Yamada:“There is a roasting geek in Tokyo who is connected to the president. He also has a shop in Tokyo, and we use beans that we order from there.

Roasting geek...... I'm so curious! An original blended coffee that can only be drunk at "BLITZ COFFEE" was born from the wonderful connections between people unique to the president who has a wide range of faces.

– There are about 30 kinds of menu, which is quite a few!

Mr. Yamada: “BLITZ COFFEE also sells ginger syrup, but it is not available anywhere in Gifu yet.

For the limited-time menus of the shop, we are thinking about new menus that you can not easily drink at other cafes in Gifu. ”

Hojicha (roasted tea) & chocolate chip muffins with a slight aroma of tea leaves. The moist and soft muffins are accented with chocolate chips here and there! If you eat a bite, it has a gentle taste that will heal you.

From the end of April to mid-May 2021, BLITZ COFFEE plans to open a new three-story store; the first floor will be a coffee stand, while the second and third floors will sell spiced curry!

The president, with his foresight, next turned his attention to spice curry. He has spent years creating this special spice curry, which will be available at the restaurant. An eat-in space for eating curry will also be available, and the coffee stand will be a further evolution of the coffee stand.
