"Espace KM"- Scandinavian vintage furniture shop that connects the masterpieces of the past to the future.

"Espace KM" is a Scandinavian vintage furniture shop that opened in February 2017, located just outside Exit 6 of Motoyama Station on the Nagoya Subway Higashiyama Line.
Kohei Maruyama, the owner, says he is attracted to the "universal beauty" of Scandinavian furniture.
Scandinavia is a very cold region. Winter, from November to March, is colder and cloudier than in Japan. It is also characterized by short daylight hours. Living spaces have been devised so that people can spend a comfortable time at home.
Scandinavian furniture is designed with people's lifestyles in mind and is lean and well-designed. The warmth of the wood, the way the materials are used, and the color schemes have been widely accepted around the world and have become even more popular in recent years.
This time, I asked Mr. Maruyama about the reasons why he opened the shop and what he is particular about.
What is Espace KM?
Espace KM is located on the second floor of a building with brick tiles just off Motoyama Station. The blue wall at the back of the front of the building and the beams are impressive. Furniture by Hans J. Wegner, Boehme Mogensen, and other designers is displayed here.
Displays that make it easy to imagine scenes of daily life. The tableware and paintings that Mr. Maruyama selected and brought back with him when he went overseas to purchase items are arranged together.
The furniture will be picked up after adjusting the schedule with the person who purchased it. I saw signs all over the store that read, "Sold."
The store is divided into two rooms with an office in between, and this room is said to create a calm office space. The furniture is also laid out before maintenance, giving it a vintage weight. The colors and textures of the different woods and materials are in harmony, and a warm feeling can be felt in the space. The plants used for display are also selected by the owner.
