Meijo Park is just a stone's throw from Nagoya Station and Sakae. Next to it, there is a complex facility "tonarino" where there are running stations, sports related facilities, restaurants, etc. In the neighborhood, there are "Nagoya Castle" and "Kinshachi Alley" which opened as a castle town of Nagoya Castle.
Isn't it nice to spend some time relaxing in the park with your family and friends?
This time, we will introduce about Meijo Park & tonarino.
Meijo Park & tonarino is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Meijo Koen Station on the Meijo Subway Line. There is also a paid parking lot for 200 cars (30 minutes/180 yen).
"tonarino" grows while nurturing
"tonarino" opened on April 27, 2017. It was born as the first complex commercial facility in a park in Nagoya. Based on the concept of "Nurturing and growing together with park users", it was named "tonarino" with the image of "next to the castle, next to you".
In the facility, which occupies about 0.7ha, there are four keywords: food, body, greenery, and gathering. They aim to be a facility that grows together with park users.
The building is a two-story building with a wooden appearance. On the 1st floor are Starbucks Coffee, Lawson, and a running goods store. On the 1st and 2nd floors, you can enjoy BBQ and authentic Italian cuisine at GARB CASTELLO, and on the 2nd floor is DEAN & DELUCA.
2F is a spacious terrace seat. If the weather is nice, you can have a cup of tea here. Pets are allowed on the terrace, so you can stop by while taking a walk.
Various events are held regularly in tonarino. Among them, "tonarino marche" is held on the second and fourth Sundays of every month. There are 30 to 40 restaurants, hand-made craft items, food trucks, and stylish stalls full of commitment.
Let's spend lunch time in an open space!
"GARB CASTELLO"
For lunch, we recommend "GARB CASTELLO" on the 1st and 2nd floors.
With the greenery of Meijo Park in the background, the glass-enclosed open space is the best location. There is also a children's space in the store, so on the day I visited, people with children and mothers were enjoying their meals.
Lunch time is from 11:00 to 15:00. There are 8 types of lunch, including weekly menus, hamburgers, pasta, and steaks, as well as a kids lunch plate (650 yen).
There is also a take-out menu, so we recommend bringing it to the park for a picnic.
The signboard menu is authentic Neapolitan pizza baked in a wood-fired oven. Our pizzas are carefully baked one by one by our chefs.
On this day, I had the “Bismarck (1,000 yen)” topped with a soft-boiled egg. The fragrant aroma, the texture of the dough, and the soft-boiled egg on top are irresistible.
On the 2nd floor, you can have a BBQ empty-handed with a side view of Nagoya Castle! If you want to have a BBQ but feel that the preparation is troublesome, you can easily enjoy it.
