Have fun learning about the architecture of the Meiji and Taisho eras! “Museum Meiji Mura” | Inuyama City, Aichi

Meiji Mura

"Meiji Mura" in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture. This is an open-air museum where famous buildings from the Taisho period to the early Showa period have been relocated and preserved, mainly from the Meiji period.

The founding of Meiji Mura began with the desire to somehow save modern architecture that was destined for demolition. Without this facility, both the Imperial Hotel and Natsume Soseki's house would have been demolished. When relocating a building, they carefully dismantle each piece one by one, numbering the parts, transporting them, and rebuilding them. That's why Meiji Mura is a place where valuable Meiji buildings are passed down to future generations.

It's full of attractions that the whole family can enjoy, such as the Meiji period vehicle experience, the stylish costume museum, and Meiji gourmet food!
