Delicious coffee, tarts and art "See Saw gallery +hibit"

Go through the space next to the parking lot.

hibit

The space painted in white is the "hibit" space.

This is the entrance.

The space of hibit is a space that was originally a storeroom and has been cleaned and turned into an exhibition space. It is a space with a sense of privacy. The name "hibit" was given by the person who named it, and he named it by combining the word "hibit" in the word "exhibition" and "hibi-to" (with days and days). It's nice!

I thought that the works of Mr. Katsuhisa Sato and Mr. Fuminao Suenaga were on display but there was a name I didn't know... Is it a group exhibition of young artists?

From the left Taketoshi Saito "S Park", Akane Mizue "Beebe-kun"

Akane Mizue "Mii-chan", Kakuyo Irokawa "Bird"

Mii-chan. It looks like a cat, but it's not a cat. Mii-chan. The star on the side looks like a barrette. Her clothes melted in the river, and I felt she is like a goddess like the Mona Lisa.

Coffee and tarts arrived while I was watching the work.

I will have Katsuhisa Sato's work in the background. A delicious tart that will impress any tart lover. Today's tart is a sweet potato and apple tart.

it's delicious.

This beautiful coffee cup is made by Masanobu Ando.

After having a cup of tea and taking a break, it turns out that Mr. Sato and Mr. Suenaga made the hibit exhibition I mentioned earlier! ! On the back of the caption list, there is a description of the exhibition "Making a Name". (quoted with omission)

Make a Name
Date: March 17, 2018
Venue: blanClass (Yokohama)
Planning: Fuminao Suenaga
Participants: Ari Okubo, Katsuhisa Sato, Jumbo Suzuki, Fuminao Suenaga, Hirohiro Tomii

One thing that has always bothered me is that the names of artists whose names have been remembered in history are distinctive. Artists who are currently active have distinctive names that are easy to associate with the image of their work. Perhaps, at the time of the name, something about the artist is decided. With this in mind, I came up with a one-day exhibition and event to overturn the circuit of "artists create works" and think about the possibility of "artists' names create works". I would like to experience how the impression of the work that appears in the combination of "name", "work" and "title" changes in an experimental setting, and discuss the effect of the name on the artist.

Requests to Participating Artists
・Please forget about the works you usually make and make one piece of work.
・Please give an artist name suitable for the work. Please also attach the data of the work (title, size, material, production year).
・Pass the fictitious artist name and work data to another participating artist. I will not give you the real thing. The artist who received the work should create another work without looking at the work.
・A one-day exhibition will be held as a group exhibition of multiple fictitious artists by collecting the above. The above process will not be disclosed at the venue. Therefore, the audience does not know that the fictional artist's two works are by different creators.
・A talk event will be held at night. Participating artists will be invited to attend. On the spot, I will testify who made which work. Also, I wish we could have a discussion about the "name of the artist".

So, the group exhibition of young artists at hibit was the work that Mr. Sato and Mr. Suenaga exhibited at the time of this exhibition.

Three-dimensional "bird" is Mr. Suenaga's work
Three of the paintings are Mr. Sato's works.

It's an interesting project. It's an attempt because there is a work as an artist. What kind of work would I make if I received a name and a caption list? It's fun to imagine. And I felt that there is also a place where I look at the work by relying on the name.

And the shelf behind the painting.

Don't forget to collect information from here. Collection of exhibition information. Where should I go next?

There is also a cat drinking water with the work in the background.

Luke will see you off on your way home.

If you get tired of the busyness of December, please come and take a break. And experience their works and receive something.

Exhibition information

Synchronize with this and that of the same era before you know it.
I pay close attention to the difference between what's in front of me and what's nearby, where my senses work.
I want to be away from the present for just a moment
so that I don't miss the clues.
