The secret of colorful dried flowers
Next, we talked about dried flowers. The dried flowers from "Sonohi Gurashi" are so vivid that it is hard to believe they are dried.
-Why are the dried flowers of "Sonohi Gurashi" so vivid?
Ms. Suzuoka:"Dried flowers vary greatly depending on the condition of the fresh flowers and the environment in which they are dried. We purchase fresh flowers and plants for drying so that we can offer the best quality possible.
Dried flowers are generally thought of as faded, aren't they? This is either because the color has faded over time, or the color has been lost during the drying process. For example, it is quite common to make dried flowers at home and find that they do not turn out beautifully. Many people probably enjoy them as fresh flowers and then dry them. That is not good enough. In order to make beautiful dried flowers, we hang them from fresh fresh flowers and dry them in the dry room for plants with high moisture content, and dry them in the store for plants that look good at room temperature. This way, we are able to produce high quality dried flowers with beautiful shapes and colors."
Diverse workshop
After entering the store, the left side is the craft space.
Workshops are held every day at Sonohi Gurashi Nekogahora Branch. There are a wide variety of products such as herbariums, oil lamps, botanical candles, aroma wax bars, and sachets. It is very popular because you can easily create your own items by combining your favorite dried flowers and preserved flowers.
Ms. Suzuoka:"We have been holding workshops since the time of the Shinsakae store. Candles are more of a luxury item than flowers. That's why we started the cafe to make it easier for people to come to the store. I started the cafe because I wanted to offer tea to those who came to the workshops and let them relax."
Ms. Suzuoka:"The most popular item is the herbarium. The standard and popular item is the sachet. Most of the customers are women, but sometimes men come to make gifts for us. Since the workshop is available for ages 10 and up, some parents and children come together, and some junior high and high school students come with their friends. I would be happy if the workshop can spark an interest in dried flowers, even if just a little."
From June of this year, they started an arrangement class at detached house. Here, you can learn more about advanced arrangements such as bouquets and wreaths in small groups.
As Mr. Suzuoka says, "We want to be a shop that anyone can come to." Would you like to experience the charm of dried flowers in a world view filled with the owner's commitment?
