[Hisaya] Tacos Specialty Store "Taco Fanatico", This is the Place to Eat a Good Tacos!

In August 2021, the tacos specialty store “Taco Fanatico” opened in the commercial facility “RAYARD Hisaya-odori Park” in Hisaya Odori, Nagoya.

The very popular first store was in Nakameguro, Tokyo, and the long-awaited second store opened in Nagoya.

A great lunch deal by day and a bar for tacos and tequila by night. We have visited a restaurant with a Mexican atmosphere.

I feel Mexico everywhere!
The store with a calm atmosphere

The store name "Taco Fanatico" means "tacos fanatic" in Spanish.

The interior design is based on the concept of "a high-quality relaxing place for adults". While the design is stylish with white as the base color, it is a comfortable space with wooden tables and brown sofas.

On the wall is a picture of corn, the ingredient of tortillas.

Mexican-inspired decorations are everywhere in the restaurant.

In addition to sofa seating, Taco Fanatico has counter seating where you can enjoy the live cooking of tacos in front of you, and open-air terrace seating facing the waterfront of the park.

You can enjoy food and drinks while enjoying the night breeze while enjoying the view of the park and waterside in front of you. It seems that you can spend such a luxurious time.

The space is perfect for casual lunches, as well as special occasions such as dates and anniversaries.

Taco Fanatico Original!
Commitment to tacos

Objects displayed in the store

Taco Fanatico's tacos are made with homemade gluten-free tortillas. It does not use wheat flour, and is characterized by its crispy and light texture based on corn flour, corn masa.

The beautiful looking yellow and blue tortillas are baked and served with each order.

Yellow is a plain type that you can enjoy the fragrant corn flavor and light texture.

The rare blue tortilla is a new product developed as a result of the opening of the Nagoya branch. The secret behind the blue color is blue masa flour made from green corn, which has been passed down from generation to generation by Mexican farmers. It has a rich flavor reminiscent of nuts and a soft texture.

Nagoya limited Kushikatsu

Nagoya limited kushikatsu (skewers) 350 yen (tax included)

Unique kushikatsu tacos only available in Nagoya. It seems that they got a hint from a Mexican stew dish.

There is a spicy tomato stew dish in Mexico. They thought, "Why not serve that sauce on something? Let's try it on kushikatsu, a popular dish in Nagoya!"

Mexican tomato-based sauce is combined with Nagoya's red miso paste and served on kushikatsu skewers. It is truly a mix of Mexican and Nagoya!

Pretty volume!

At first, I thought, "Kushikatsu with tacos?" But the slightly fragrant miso paste and the refreshing taste of the chili mayo sauce filled my mouth in perfect harmony.

This is a delicious meal where you can enjoy both Nagoya rice and Mexican food at once.

Vegan

Vegan ¥350 (tax included)

Vegan tacos popular with women and foreigners. Cauliflower is fried and tossed in Cajun powder on top of a sour guacamole (avocado dip). Topped with fresh salsa sauce, this dish has a refreshing sour taste.

When developing vegan tacos, it seems that simply removing the meat did not make it delicious. After a lot of ingenuity, the vegetables alone have a strong flavor that is as good as the meat.

When I ate it, it was surprisingly satisfying to eat, even though it was only vegetables. Best of all, the guacamole and fresh salsa sauce have just the right amount of sourness to make it addictive! No wonder it's popular with women.

Lunch limited taco rice

Lunch limited taco rice ¥1,100~ (tax included)

Taco Fanatico's taco rice uses enzyme brown rice. Spicy taco meat and fresh salsa sauce match the chewy rice with adzuki beans and multi-grain rice. The combination of spiciness and sourness spreads throughout your mouth.

The chewy fermented brown rice contains chickpeas and other ingredients, so it's a taco rice that's more filling than it looks.

The popular lunch items are the tacos set on the upper left and the lunch limited taco rice.

About 30 kinds of premium tequila & mezcal

This doll, which I thought was a display, is actually a bottle of tequila!

Chef Egawa is a tequila professional with a tequila maestro license. You can find your favorite tequila with a set of 3 types of tasting.

Mr. Egawa often explains tequila to customers. We listened to the reactions of their customers.

Mr. Egawa:“Many people have the impression that tequila is a ‘punishment game’ (because of its strong alcohol content, it is often drunk when losing a game). However, while there are traditional “spicy, bitter, hard” tequila, recently there are more sweet and milder tequila that are easy to drink. I like old-fashioned tequila, though (laughs).”

In addition, it seems that customers who have actually drunk tequila often give impressions such as "My concept of tequila has changed" and "Tequila was so delicious."

Mr. Egawa says, "I have the impression that many people don't like to drink tequila because they don't know much about it. I would like people to compare different types of tequila and find out what makes tequila so appealing."

There are also tequila cocktails and sweets that are popular. The recommended “Smooth Mexican Pudding” is a rich pudding with plenty of fresh cream and condensed milk, which is different from ordinary pudding.

The first tacos specialty store in Nagoya!
Enjoy with Mexican Tequila

Lunch is reasonably priced and casual, and at night you can enjoy about 30 different types of tequila at Taco Fanatico. You can enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine in an elegant space.
