"Relaxation Spa Apaiser" - an urban spa with a full range of facilities in Nagoya

Relaxation Spa Apaiser is located in Imaike, one of Nagoya's most prestigious shopping districts. The spacious bathhouse and relaxation area, which is hard to believe it is in a building, is an oasis in the heart of the city that will enrich your busy life.

In addition, it is a sauna facility that can be used by both men and women, which is rare in Nagoya city, and it also meets the needs of women seeking authentic saunas.

First, change into indoor clothes and lighten up.

Relaxation Spa Apaiser is located right in front of Exit 8 of Imaike Station on the Higashiyama and Sakuradori Subway Lines. The impressive entrance, with its cascading water objects and ceiling paintings, is sure to raise expectations.

Apaiser is unique in that each floor is divided into men's floor, women’s floor, and common floors. After checking in, take the men's/women's elevator or stairs to the second/B1 floor, where men's/women's lockers are located. First, you should change into the indoor clothes stored in the lockers!

If you are visiting for the first time, you may get lost, but the bathhouse is located on the floor above the locker floor. When you go up the stairs, you will reach the entrance of the bath where towels and sauna pants are piled up. Leave your room wear on this shelf and finally enter the bath time.

"Pre-boiled" in a variety of tubs.

Some people may find it inconvenient that the lockers and the bathroom are on separate floors. However, since one floor is fully used, the bathhouse is huge! The large windows let in plenty of light and are very open.

The large number of bathtubs is one of the attractions of this facility, and it is probably worth using it simply to take a bath even without sauna use. I also often get pre-boiled* and then goes into the sauna, so it is nice to have a large variety of bathtubs.

*To warm the body sufficiently and promote smooth sweating by soaking in hot water before taking a sauna bath.

In terms of taking a bath before the sauna, I recommend a carbonated spring. The warmth of the water will feel as if it is soaking into the inside of your body.

While carbonated water in general super public bathhouses is often set at a lukewarm temperature (according to my own research), perhaps in anticipation of a long soaking time, this one is hotter at around 39°C. By entering the sauna after improving blood circulation in the carbonated water, you will sweat refreshingly from the beginning.

Two types of saunas

After warming up in the bathtub, it is time to enter the sauna. First, we entered the main sauna, the Loyly sauna. The dark reddish brown sauna mats are fluffy and luxurious, and the spaciousness of the room is wonderful, with room for more than 20 people.

The indoor temperature is approximately 90°C. The staff pours aromatic water on the stove about once an hour and stirs it with a towel, so the right amount of humidity is always maintained. Furthermore, from 18:00, 20:00, and 22:00, a full-fledged Loyly service using an uchiwa fan will be held. The aroma and intense heat waves will take away the fatigue of the day.

Another sauna room is a wet sauna. The temperature is mild at 50-60 °C, and even those who do not like high-temperature saunas can enjoy it. However, don't underestimate it just because the temperature is low!! After warming up gradually over a long period of time, you will start to sweat profusely as if you had just burst out of a dam. This is a quality that even people who normally tend to pass up low-temperature saunas and mist saunas should definitely try.

Personally, I think it's a good idea to move from wet sauna to Loyly sauna and sweat more efficiently.

The water bath, one of the best parts of the sauna, is available in two types: around 23°C and 15°C. You can choose the bathtub with the water temperature you prefer according to your physical condition and finish that day. Another key point is that you can enjoy "cold alternating baths," in which you move from a cold bath to a lukewarm bath.

There is no open-air space in Apaiser, but the windows around the attraction baths are often open, so you can enjoy the feeling of taking a bath in the open air. It is so comfortable that you can't help but fall asleep.

A ladies' spa with excellent traffic lines

The biggest attraction of Apaiser is that not only men but also women can enjoy a full-fledged sauna. I was also specially guided to the women's spa on the first basement floor.

The women's lockers, bathrooms, and rest areas are all on the same floor, providing a better line of flow than in the men's spa.

There are two types of sauna rooms in the main sauna room as well as the men's spa. In the main Loyly sauna, Loyly services are held three times a day from 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m.

Some hot bath facilities set the temperature of the women's sauna room lower, but at Apaiser, the temperature is set to around 90°C. It may be a valuable strong style for women who want to be steamed well.

There are also two types of water baths, with temperatures around 23°C and 15°C. In terms of sauna and water bath settings, there is little difference from men's spas.

Salt is placed in the wet sauna as a privilege only at Ladies Spa. By entering the salt sauna, various beauty effects can be expected, such as dissolving dead skin cells and scraping out sebum and other substances deep inside the pores.

Check out the clean women's powder room, equipped with hair milk, emulsion, lotion by DHC. There is also a women-only rest room on the same floor, where you can relax after a sauna without worrying about the eyes of male visitors. As mentioned below, there is also a common rest space for both men and women on a separate floor, so even couples can spend a relaxing time together!

Check out the full facilities on each floor!

Apaiser, which has a total of six floors from B1F to 5th floor (B1F is for women only, while the 2nd and 3rd floors are for men only), is simply amazing in its full range of facilities. There are several relaxation services alone, including Korean-style scrubbing, Thai-style massage, and Chinese-style foot massage.

Let's look at them in order. There is a men-only restroom on the second floor where there are men's lockers. You can relax while watching TV, newspapers and magazines. Similarly, there is also a nap room on the 2nd floor, which is recommended if you want to take a good rest. You can also access the men's spa on the 3rd floor by stairs from this floor.

The fourth floor is common space. Many of the relaxation salons mentioned above are located on this floor. The reclining seats in the rest rooms on this floor can be used by any visitor. The orange-colored seats give a bright impression to the entire floor.

The 5th floor is also for both men and women. There is a manga/internet corner, where one can easily linger for a while. If you are a couple, this is also a good place to meet up.

A men's capsule hotel and a women's capsule hotel are also located on this floor. There are a total of 112 rooms (92 men's rooms and 20 women's rooms), and the rates are reasonable, starting at 3,200 yen. The fee includes a spa and sauna, so you can stay overnight and enjoy a luxurious spa time. It can also be a strong ally when you miss the last train, so keep it in the corner of your mind.

Izakaya-style restaurant with a full menu

Among the various facilities, I especially recommend the "Resting Place Fuji no Sato" on the first floor. To tell you how much I recommend it, if you are going to pay for appetizers and seating at a regular izakaya in Imaike, I would rather pay the entrance fee to Apaiser and use this restaurant (this is my personal opinion as a sauna lover).

The main seats are sunken kotatsu, which is very comfortable. There are table seats for 6 people in the back, so even if you come in a group, you can have a good time. Of course, both men and women can use it together.

Among the wide variety of dishes ranging from rice dishes to snacks, the karaage fried chicken (5 pieces, 800 yen) is one of the most popular items on the menu. Juicy chicken meat emerges from the crispy batter! The simple seasoning, which is not too fancy, is very appealing. +The set meal can be ordered for an additional ¥250.

The "Fuji no Sato Gozen" is a gorgeous set that includes a small portion of sashimi, tempura, and various other side dishes. The menu varies depending on the day's stock, but for 1,580 yen for such a generous portion, you can't go wrong! You can order it as a meal, of course, but it is also a good idea to enjoy sake with the wide variety of side dishes.

Teppan meat spaghetti (750 yen) is a dish typical of Nagoya's sauna facilities. You can enjoy it hot to the end. The secret ingredient is garlic, which is sure to give you stamina!

Men and women can share the “wonderfulness of the sauna”

We have entered the second half of 2022, but the world's sauna boom continues. Recently, I often hear such voices from women who like saunas.

"I was excited when I heard there was a sauna, but the only sauna in the women's bath was a mist sauna."
"The sauna in the women's bath was only 70 degrees Celsius. I wish it was more dry!"
"All the famous saunas introduced on TV and in magazines are for men only."

I feel that more and more female sauna guests are looking for classic sauna facility rather than a fashionable spa resort. In fact, I hear that every time a male-only facility holds a "Ladies' Day," it is a great success.

In this respect, Relaxation Spa Apaiser may be a rare facility that allows both men and women to casually share the "splendor of the sauna" at any time.

You can visit on your own after work, or enjoy a "bath date" that's a bit different from the super public baths - no matter what the situation or what time you visit, it will bring you the ultimate in relaxation.
