A goshuin (red seal stamp) given at a shrine. In recent years, there are various variations of goshuin, such as colorful ones, ones with watermarks, ones that use Japanese paper, etc., depending on the shrine.

You can't help but want to collect them! Rich lineup
"Wakeoe Shrine"

"Wakeoe Shrine" in Kita Ward, Nagoya City, which can be said to be the driving force behind the Goshuin stamp boom, has now become famous nationwide.

The reason why it became so popular on social media is because of the gorgeous seasonal decorations of the precincts, which is unusual for a shrine, and the art-like goshuin stamps that change every month. It's no surprise that visitors come from all over the country to see the ingenious decorations and goshuin stamps.

Among them, the goshuin has a wide variety of designs that change every month, and they are all handwritten! It is so popular that it has been ranked number one in the goshuin category of a national shrine ranking for six years in a row on a website specializing in shrines.

At Wakeoe Shrine you can enjoy regular goshuin stamps as well as limited edition goshuin stamps representing festivals and seasonal events. There are always 3 to 5 types available, so it's hard to decide which one to go for. You'll probably want to collect them every month.

Orders can also be placed online, so be sure to check the shrine website for monthly designs and applications, as well as information about holidays!

Lots of lottery winnings! ?
"Koganejinja"

Also in Kita Ward, Nagoya City, is the Koganejinja Shrine, which is located on the grounds of Yamada Tenmangu Shrine. It is said that this place is said to bring good luck with money, so there is no end to the voices of joy related to money, such as big lottery wins.

The place to pray for the luck of money is a building set up next to the Kogane Shrine. Inside the building, Daikoku-sama (God of money and agriculture) and Ebisu-sama (God of fishing and prosperous business) are enshrined.

This is called "Zeni-arai (money wash)," where money and wallets are placed in a colander. Put anything you don't want to get wet in a plastic bag (You must bring it yourself).

The water is poured over Daikoku-sama and Ebisu-sama three times each, and the water flowing from them is used to wash and purify the money and purse. By using the purified wallets and money, you will be blessed with good fortune.

The bulletin board was filled with the joyful voices!

The red ink stamp of Kogane Shrine is simple. The key points are the rats used by Daikoku-sama and the mallet he always holds in his hand.

One of the trips to the three shrines of love
"Shiroyama Hachimangu Shrine"

"Shiroyama Hachimangu" stands on a hill about a 6-minute walk from Motoyama Subway Station. This place was once the site of Suemori Castle, which was built by Oda Nobunaga's father, Nobuhide. In front of the torii gate, there are remnants of the moat, which reminds us of the time when the castle once existed.

And this shrine is one of the shrines called "three shrines of love", and it is said that if you visit all three designated shrines in Nagoya city, your love will come true.

That spot is "Renriboku", which is located in a place that circles to the west. With a trunk circumference of 3m53cm, a root circumference of 4m30cm, and a height of 15m, the tree is believed to be a sacred tree for marriage, good marriage, and marital harmony.

In addition, you can do fortune-telling of love called "Kamiura" on this Renriboku.

Men walk counterclockwise and women clockwise, walking while thinking about the other person in their hearts, and stopping when they feel anxious. Then, in front of you, you turn over the red Shide that is tied to the sacred tree, and fortune-telling is performed based on whether or not there is a lucky sign written on it. Only one Shide is marked, so if there is that mark, it is a good omen.

By the way, there are various types of goshuin stamps at Shiroyama Hachimangu Shrine, but this time we will introduce the goshuin stamps associated with matchmaking and Renrigi (600 yen per sheet, which you can write by hand).

Moreover, if you purchase one goshuin, you can get the pictured "Enishi no Ito". You can write your wish on the attached sticker and tie it to a designated place in the precincts, or take it home and tie it to something nearby.

And if you buy 3 or more, you can also get a wonderful original goshuin bag with double doors (100 yen for one)! I am glad that there is a lot of support for those who want a good relationship.

In addition, there are about 50 types of Goshuin, including those for a limited time only, such as Goshuin depicting Oichi no Kata and Oinu no Kata, the younger sisters of Nobunaga, who were born here at Suemori Castle and were said to be the most beautiful women in the Sengoku period. It's fun to choose.

A colorful and heartwarming goshuin is a once-in-a-lifetime chance
"Miwa Shrine"

"Miwa Shrine" stands quietly in the bustling town of Osu, Naka Ward, Nagoya City. The shrine is also popular for matchmaking because of the famous tale associated with the red thread.

Also, the torii is called ``Miwa torii'' or ``Mitsu torii'', which is a rare structure with torii gates on both sides of the central torii called Myojin torii.

The enshrined deity is Omononushi no Kami, which is the same deity that is enshrined at Omiwa Shrine in Nara, which is said to be the oldest shrine in Japan.

Omononushi no kami is also known as Okuninushi no Mikoto, and because his messenger is a rabbit, here at Miwa Shrine, too, there is a happy stroke rabbit, which is said to make you happy if you stroke it. is in

Also, this area is called Yaba-cho, and its name comes from the fact that it was built in the Edo period to resemble a training ground for a competition called "Toshiya" called Sanjusangen-do in Kyoto. It seems to be due to the fact that it was "Yaba".

And in one corner of the precincts, surprisingly, there is a “matchmaking tree” with a red arrow piercing the tree.
There is a legend that the arrows of Toshiya and the enshrined deity have become red arrows, so it is popular as a god of marriage because the arrows connect to make a good match.

By the way, this arrow didn't go through a hole, but was placed between two trees, and after about three years, it transformed into a shape that pierces the tree like this. I am amazed at the life force of the tree!

The number of goshuin stamps at Miwa Shrine is astonishing. There are always more than 20 types, including classic ones, monthly ones, 24th seasonal ones, seasonal flowers and cutouts. There are some things that you can only get on the day, so it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime goshuin.

By the way, the day we visited was the 22nd, which is "Nyan Nyan Day", so we got a goshuin with a cat illustration for this day only! It was designed by the staff, and it seems that it is made with an eraser stamp.

The colorful and warm goshuin stamps are all heartwarming.

Worked for about 9 years at a publishing company that develops wedding information magazines, beauty products, and food and beverage products. After getting married and retiring, my love for travel increased and I became a freelance writer. Due to a family transfer, I went to Fukuoka and Hiroshima, and currently live in Nagoya. Enjoying and discovering the charms of not only Aichi Prefecture but also the three Tokai prefectures. My specialties are shrines and hot springs, and I also love delicious food. We will deliver "new discoveries" to the "normal" of local people.
