Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture is located in the southeast of Gifu Prefecture. Despite being in a very convenient location, about 35 minutes by train from Nagoya, it is a historic city blessed with rich nature and water sources. Tajimi may have a strong image of Mino-yaki, but it is actually dotted with many stylish places, popular cafes, and historic shrines.

Tajimi Mosaic Tile Museum

"Tajimi City Mosaic Tile Museum". This building was designed and supervised by Terunobu Fujimori, a world-famous architect.

The 4-story building has a reception desk, hands-on workshop, and museum shop on the 1st floor, and exhibition rooms from the 2nd to 4th floors. It is a facility where both adults and children can have fun while learning about the history of tiles.

Eiho-ji Temple

Tajimi is attractive not only for its stylish cafes, but also for its historical places.

​Eiho-ji Temple was built in 1313 (Showa 2) during the Kamakura period, and the Kannon-do Hall and Kaizan-do Hall built at the end of the Kamakura period are designated as National Treasures. Chisen Kaiyushiki Garden (Strolling gardens usually feature a center pond)  is a famous temple representing Gifu Prefecture, which is designated as a national scenic spot with high artistic and ornamental value for Japan.

Autumn is the best time to see the autumn foliage, and the precincts of the temple are colored by autumn foliage, including a ginkgo tree that is about 700 years old.
