Lunch time with Saku-shima specialties
Halfway through the stamp rally, it's time for lunch!
When I think of Sakushima, I think of giant asari (giant clam)! That is why we came to "Isuzuya," the original giant clam bowl restaurant. The restaurant is popular for its lunch featuring seasonal seafood, boiled octopus in summer, and oden in winter.
First of all, from the famous large clam rice bowl.
I thought it might be a flavorless because of the size, but it was very delicate with a plump texture. The egg and rice soaked in the broth are irresistible. It is simple, but has a unique taste. If you visit Sakushima, this is a must-try gourmet dish!
Next is sashimi. This day was mackerel and horse mackerel. You can taste fresh fish only in a fishing town.
It's lunch time, and the tiredness of the morning is blown away at once.

In the second half of the game, we will focus on the art works of Higashi Port!
Let's go around the art works of Higashi Port!
I came to "Oura Beach" in the center of the island.
After walking along the coastline, you will see Takahito Kimura's work "Seagull Parking Lot". Seagulls line up on the stone embankment. The direction of the seagull's body changes depending on the direction of the wind. This is also a very popular photo spot!
Cross the pier to the popular art work "East House"
Yuki Minamikawa's work "East House" is on the way to the pier heading to Oshima on the south side of Higashi Port.
Since it is located in the east district, it is named "East House" as it is. Total length about 60m. At the pavilions at both ends, you can go inside and take a break, or go up and look at the sea. You can spend a relaxing time here.
Actually, this work is a paired work with the above-mentioned "Ohirune House". It's hard to tell from the picture, but if you look closely, you can see Ohirune House in the center of the gazebo. When I found out, I was a little overwhelmed.
Cross the pier to Oshima.
On Oshima, there is Toru Matsuoka's work "Saku-shima Garden". The mountains in the middle represent Mt. Oyama, Mt. Toda, Mt. Akiba, and Mt. Fuji on Saku-shima.
The path was filled with dishes used by the islanders. It is said that it represents the sea road leading to the mainland.
Pass through Higashi Port and go further to the east side of the island.
"Saku-shima 's secret base / Apollo" appears after passing through a tunnel of trees
We aim for another popular work on the east side, "Saku-shima 's Secret Base / Apollo". If you park your bicycle and proceed, you will see a tree and a tunnel. It's like a picture book world.
Passing through the second tree tunnel ... ....
POINT (Tsutomu Nagaoka + Masahiro Tanaka)'s work "Saku-shima 's Secret Base / Apollo" has arrived. A work of architecture inspired by the Apollo 11 moon landing.
Climb the narrow stairs... and you can even go inside! As the name of the work suggests, it's like a secret base and exciting.
There are benches inside, and you can see the beautiful sea from the square windows. It's just a hiding place.
By the way, if you go a little further from "Saku-shima 's Secret Base / Apollo", you will reach "Tsutsushima", a sacred island enshrining Benten-sama. The "wish stone" that brings happiness is said to bring benefits such as success in love, success in passing exams, and prosperous business.
Return to Higashi Port by bicycle and aim for the god of fishing, "Kaijin-sama".
God of fishing "Sea God"
Head to "Shonenji", which is located right next to Higashi Port. Here is Toru Matsuoka's work "Kaijin-sama". I was sitting on the veranda of the hall.
that? This face looks familiar from somewhere... That's right, what was in the "Kleingarten Welcome Space" was the alter ego of the Sea God! You can meet them in several places on the island.
The god of the sea is said to be the god of fishing, so he has a fish on his head.
Only 3 stamps left on the island! "Saku-shima Art Picnic" is finally coming to an end.
