Experience Life in the Showa Era
In the next corner, life in the Showa period is reproduced in full size. This is an image of a farmhouse in Kitanagoya City around 1945-30. It seems that it was after the Meiji era that people began to eat around the chabudai (low round table).
Next to it, there is also a drawing room from around 1955 to 1965. By this time, it was common to sit on a chair and eat at the dining table. Life has changed so much in the last 10-20 years.
An Array of Valuable Collections
This permanent exhibition also has valuable collections, from home appliances to candy packaging. Many visitors seemed to enjoy the tour, commenting, "This is so nostalgic!" and "I really liked those sweets!" The feeling of nostalgia makes people so excited.
Next, go to the basement 1F where classic cars are on display!
A Row of Classic Cars and Motorcycles
The first basement floor of The Showa Era Lifestyle Museum is lined with classic cars and motorcycles.
From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, "Car", "Cooler (air-conditioning)" and "Color television", which were called "New Three Treasures (3C)", became new necessities of life.
At the "Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo)" held in 1970, there was a boom in people coming by car.
The "Toyopet Crown" on the right side of the photo was delivered to the Aichi Prefectural Government as an official car in 1962.
During the Showa era, life in Japan changed dramatically over the course of about 60 years. At The Showa Era Lifestyle Museum, you can enjoy learning about life in the Showa era. I was surprised that I was able to see such a valuable collection and that admission was free.
At the special exhibitions held three times a year, you can learn about the Showa era from various angles, so every time you visit, you will discover something different.
