[With a film camera in hand] Camera walk in Otobashi

Happy New Year!
My first camera walk in 2022 is in Otobashi!

A staff member who lives in Otobashi told me about recommended spots there, so I went there.

Otobashi

First, get off at Otobashi Station and go to Milky House, which is about a 5-minute walk away.

It's very cold outside, so I'm warming up with hot coffee for now.
As is customary in this camera walk, morning breakfast comes with a drink is the first thing in the morning.
This time it is Ogura Toast.

The red bean paste is sweet and delicious.
Inside the store, which seemed to be full of regulars, the clerk was wishing a New Year's greeting to what appeared to be an elderly lady who goes to a nearby hospital.

In addition to Ogura toast, Milky House's morning breakfast offers a set of toast and egg, an egg sandwich set, and a breakfast set until 10:00.

Salad is also served if you choose.
Smoking is allowed, so be careful if you avoid it.

Let's go for a walk on Otobashi!

Hachimanen

Hachimanen

If you walk around Hachiman-en, which is in the old red light district*, you will find buildings here and there that make you think they used to be red-light districts or cafes that ran brothels in the past.

Through this camera walk project, I have become much more familiar with the situation of brothels in Nagoya.
Hachimanen gives the impression of being smaller than the Nakamura brothel I visited before. Some of the buildings I saw this time still seem to be inhabited.

* Area where special restaurants for the purpose of prostitution were gathered

Nagoya Stadium

I go straight to the Nagoya Baseball Stadium.
I walked around the stadium, thinking back to my childhood when I came here to watch a baseball game.
Unfortunately, the stadium was off-limits to all but authorized personnel, so I took this shot from a distance.

Maison du Miel

After walking around, I still had time before lunch, so I checked Instagram for information around Otobashi and found some photos of a shop called Maison du Miel. I decided to check it out.

A cake and bread store with a stylish exterior.
I don't go inside this time because I'll have lunch later, so I only see the outside. I will go there next time, as there seem to be many delicious cakes.

Tajima

I came to Tajima for lunch.
You can eat delicious and affordable steaks here.
The store opened at 11:30, and even though I came before 12:00, almost all the seats were filled.

It seems that there are many regulars here as well.
What are the A set and B set on the lunch menu? While thinking that, I ordered A set.
This set seemed to be a lunch box, and I ate a fillet steak lunch box.
It wasn't the plate menu that everyone eats, but the steak was delicious! ! And the corn croquette in the lunch box was delicious, too!
As a result, it was nice to have the lunch box.

The master of this signboard grilled the meat in front of me.

When I was watching him grilling, he asked me, "Is it delicious?"

"It's delicious!"
I became a fan of the restaurant because of the manager who was kind enough to talk to both regulars and first-timers like me and the delicious meat.

"Kobayashi Bookstore" with a large signboard on the other side of the road is a bookstore specializing in art books.
I'm worried that the shop is a little slanted, but if you look at the reviews on Google Maps, it looks like a nice old bookstore. Unfortunately, the day of the walk, it was closed.

Next, I walk along the road directly from the bookstore to "Fukyuen".
I was told that the monaka here are very delicious.
I bought a regular monaka and a seasonal chestnut monaka!

For this Otobashi walk, I walked to Kanayama station to run an errand.
This walk ended with a shopping stop at the Gotoh Islands Market, which happens to be open at Kanayama Station.

I walked a lot again this time, so I went home and took a break while eating Monaka at the kotatsu.

I have the impression that many restaurants are frequented by regulars in Otobashi
At any rate, I will visit Tajima again and aim to become one of their regulars.

Thank you for reading!
